If you had to choose between vacationing for a year OR having a year free of rent, what would you pick?
Just think about all the places you could travel to within a year. You could relax for a month or two in Hawai'i. Jet set to Southeast Asia and take tours through Japan and Thailand. Travel into Europe and visit some of the world's most famous places and tourist areas. Country hop throughout Europe and immerse yourself into their cultures. For one year, you would live out of your backpack and suitcases, having no worries of anything other than where you will visit next.
OR imagine going to work everyday and not having to worry about paying rent. Taking each paycheck and banking it, not scrounging up every penny to give to your landlord. You would have no worries, no troubles (well maybe one less trouble), if you had a year free of rent. All your money would go to anything you want or need, except rent. The freedom you could have if you didn't have to worry about that monthly bill.
So what would you choose? A year of traveling OR a year of free rent?

I would travel (as long as I have my job and apartment when I come back!!)

a year of free rent. although traveling for a year is enticing... but i would be completely broke afterwards and possibly in debt. i'd rather work and bank my checks. never know what's going to happen with how the economy is going...
Maybe free rent, then use the money I saved to travel for as long as I can.
if the vacation is free too then i'd pick that one!

rent free. I mean if your money can go anywhere you wanted it there is nothing restricting you from using it to travel.

Rent free. That'd kill about half my college debt.
Although the saving money while living rent free sounds great, lets be honest, I would probably spend the money on clothes and other frivolous things. So I may as well just go on the vacation.

Rent free. I could set down and get a university education and not have any bills besides phone and food and internet.
I would definitely live rent free; I would have lots of extra cash to travel when I wanted to, but I wouldn't want to be away from home for a year.
Rent free. Vacations are fleeting and a waste of money. I get a week's paid vacation, but I don't actually go anywhere TO vacation. I'd rather have the money for when I'm in some kind of emergency,than to find that I blew it all on a cruise or something.
This is stupid! You take the rent free and then you can travel anywhere if you want. Id rather be debt free.
Rent free for me is about USD 22,500 a year.. and that will probably bring me only halfway round the world.. plus a year away from home is actually not too funny.. my bf and i tried 1 month holidaying in Turkey and Greece & we got very homesick after 3 wks..
So i guess i rather rent free, then take the money to break into say 3 luxurious trips each time 1-2 wks away from home. :D
