Sad, but true, my beloved companion has passed away. My handy dandy camera fell and broke to shambles on my vacation in Barcelona. (Hey, at least it died somewhere cool.) It was kind of my own fault. In the process of capturing a unique photograph in the rain with my tripod, a sweeping wind shoved it to the ground.
Since 2006, it accompanied on many vacations. My first trip with my boyfriend in Orlando, many walks around NYC, and more recently, to the sunny state of Hawaii. Oh Casio Exilim ex-s10, thank you for the travel memories and videos you captured for me.
(In a personal funny story, I almost lost my beloved camera in May 2009, during a going away party for my boyfriend leaving for his backpacking trip abroad. We thought she was gone after a long night of Grey Goose and dancing, but after harassing the City of New York and the interwebs with countless crys for help, it was found in my best friend's bag. Hidden in a secret compartment where she didn't know it was the entire time.
My camera even survived Teaneck, NJ, but not Spain!)
In memory of my camera, and in the search of its replacement (Say it ain't so!) I wanted to know what kind of camera everyone has!
Do you prefer small, simple cameras or complex cameras for the best travel pictures?

I'm right in the middle. Olympus 510UZ. To big to fit in your pocket, but small enough to walk through an airport with our drawing suspicious looks.
for the best pictures, complex cameras. For just taking pictures, I like smaller ones.
I used to just carry around a point and shoot. In fact, I use a Casio Exilim too! But last year I upgraded to a DSLR - Nikon D60. I take it whenever I know there will be good photo ops.
My camera is a Canon Powershot A560. I like it because it lets you change the shutter settings in addition to the pre-set features which are so common on digital cameras these days (e.g. night scene, portrait).
