  • Your First Vacation Together is ALWAYS Special

There's a first time for everything, as the saying goes.

In a new relationship, there are lots of first times.  Your first date, your first kiss, your first fight, your first... well you get the idea.

And there's the first time you go on holiday together.  Somehow, no matter how many trips you make later, the very first one remains special.  The tiniest details linger in your memory for ages.  I believe that couples have to make their own history together, made up from all those unforgettable little and big events that happened in their relationship.  So we chose our first trip with extra care.  We went to the 'most popular city in the world', Barcelona.

We were not disappointed.  It was a really good trip.  It started with the hotel, which was slap bang on the Ramblas.  For some reason they gave us their best room.  Well 'room' is an insult, it was a top floor suite with two bathrooms and designer interior.  There was a jacuzzi the size of a pool - really, it's amazing we ever left the room.  But we did.

We decided to take a ride on one of these open top 'hop on hop off' buses to get a feel of the city.  Hop on we did - but on the wrong bus.  Never mind that, we just got to see more, even though we were treated on the odd hailshower on the way.  We saw Camp Nou, had a beer with Messi (OK I promise to tell the truth from here on), the Olympic Village, the Sagrada Familia and a bunch of other landmarks.

Miriam and I have our special interests, and one of them is eating in those little restaurants where the chefs go out of their way to prepare something remarkable.  On such place is Mauri, where my girlfriend bought me a lovely lunch.  Everything in that place is handmade, painstakingly created.  The love they have for their products just shines off every dish.  And don't get me started on the sweets and the chocolates...

Speaking of which, another place you just have to go to is the Chocolate Museum, or MX is it called with its Catalan abbreviation.  Located next to the Patissiers' Academy, here you will find most astonishing sculptures, completely made out of chocolate.  Check out the virtual tour on their website here.

Well what can I say.  We loved Barcelona.  I cannot imagine who wouldn't.  I'd love to visit it again, amb molt de gust (with pleasure)!
