If you thought Reality shows have come up with every sort of idea, think again. The newest reality show markets the travel world and those who want to be in it. "Fly Girls" is not a show about hip hop lovers, but instead all about the lives of a Flight Attendant.
Follow the lives of five flight attendants for Virgin America and get a glimpse of traveling for free. Sounds like a simple kind of life correct? Not exactly.
It is being compared to MTV Shows like "The Hills" and "The City", granted the Executive producer was in charge of these shows. But it is also more than living the glamorous life of hotels, clubbing and traveling the world. Viewers will watch the young women deal with strange passengers, layovers in interesting cities and conflicts in the air.
And of course, your usual reality show drama like romance and girl fights. I wonder how many jokes about the Mile High club will be made. Check out the preview:
Nonetheless, it is an interesting approach to those who care about the travel world. The half hour show is set to premiere in January 2010. We'll see then how seriously we can take this show and if it will give us a good look at the life of a Flight Attendant.
Would you watch Fly Girls? Have you ever wanted to be a Flight Attendant?
I'm a flight attendant too. There are guidelines on what a FA should and shouldn't do. Bitching is common, and so are power-hungry man snatchings. Would I watch the show? If only they are available in my country.
I'm a Flight Attendant for Air Asia and would I watch the show??? Sure I would! I want to see the lives of my fellow FAs. Virgin Airlines has a joint venture with my airline, so why not check out our so-called 'allies'??
Everyone gets tired and grumpy while flying, more so if its a longer flight. I'm always polite to the flight attendants, but if I was really tired and agitated I could easily get into a squabble with my mum, and I would not appreciate that being on tv for millions of people to watch and judge me, when they don't actually know me. I'd feel pretty violated, like the guy off Borat, who sued when he was made a fool of on public tv. People should not be filmed without their permission, and who would honestly be okay with them making an idiot of themselves on tv? Even if they are an arrogant arse who totally deserved it. Fillming people who has been on a flight for hours, who is grumpy and irritable from being on a plane for 32 hours is about as classy as filming a tired kid having a tantrum because they missed their nap.
This seems like a ploy by the airlines industry to get people into flying more again. Airlines are in SERIOUS hurt because of the recession and people flying less. Im sure this, if popular, will respark interest in people flying the friendly skies more frequently again.
But will I watch it? No... unless theres nudity or fights or something. Just being honest.
I just hope I don't end up on a plane where they're filming for a reality show. I'm terrified of flying, and act in a very uncharacteristic manner whilst on planes. As in, I jump and grab the armrest for every little bit of turbulence. And almost get sick. I'm usually a pretty stoic person, but... not while flying.
I'm a flight attendant for a major carrier. This looks VERY staged. It looks nothing like what my career looks like. It's too bad; there are so many misconceptions about this particular career, this will only make it worse. It also looks like it will promote some stereotypes of the job that are totally inaccurate. For instance, I've worked with flight attendants who were former judges, psychotherapists, attorneys, engineers, nurses, etc. Most of us have college degrees. Many of us speak 2 or more languages fluently. You get the idea. In the teaser for the show I see a group of young slutty bimbos. A shame because the job IS incredibly interesting and very different from any other - and very different from what most people perceive.
The airports/airlines have become the hellish places they are because they've given women authority
Women are very controlling, especially with men
Now they have SUPREME authority in airports...no matter what their job is
From the clerk to the flight attendant, they all have the power to snap their fingers and have security guards wrestle you to the ground
For...any little given offense. Seen a hundred times, cocky little airport clerk gives man a hard time, man gets mad, girl snaps her fingers...he's arrested, his wife has to stay where they are and pay for a hotel, pay for bail, miss work along with her husband...
And why? Little girls are given authority, and feminism teaches them to disrespect men...by finding ways to control them
The flight attendants are the worst....it's a federal offense to "disobey" a flight attendant...meaning it's literally illegal to tell a rude, mouthy, cocky flight attendant to shut up and leave you alone
