Not too long ago, we warned you about the t
op 3 Countries you will most likely get kidnapped in. Hopefully, this will change, but until then, safe travels if you do visit these places. Now, we are lucky enough to show you the Top 3 safest countries you should visit. (You know, in case some crazy sea monster decides to eat the United States and you had to go somewhere.)
The list is based on the Global Peace Index, which reviews crime statistics, government actions and global relationships. Although these countries are considered safe, it doesn't mean to let your guard down. I wouldn't suggest running around like nothing is going to happen to you!
New Zealand- With the nickname of "Kiwi" for a resident of New Zealand, how can you not imagine this city being safe? I have a silly imagination and can't help but picture myself exiting the plane and being handed Kiwi's upon my arrival. But, in the real world, many claim New Zealand is a friendly and safe country to visit.
With friendly locals, lots of exciting things to do and a beautiful landscape, how can you not want to visit New Zealand?
Denmark: A country home to the birthplace of the Legos. (I didn't even know that.) You can't think about much trouble in a country that came up with Legos. All jokes aside, Denmark is also home to the famous capital of Copenhagen, a vibrant tourist destination.
The country is so safe, they say you can even hitchhike in certain parts of the country. Sounds a bit extreme and scary for a New Yorker like me.
Norway: Face it, have you ever heard any outstanding bad news about Norway? Maybe I need to watch more CNN, but as far as I know, I don't hear about much trouble over yonder. Norway is a Christian country, but welcomes and accepts others. Ironically, 3/4 of Norway is atheist or agnostic. For these reasons, they are quite liberal in certain issues like same-sex marriage.
Imagine a country so safe that police don't routinely carry guns. A wild thought indeed, but thanks to a low crime rate.
The rest of the top 10 safe countries
list.
Would you visit these countries? Do you consider any other places safe?

I would love to visit all these countries
I want to go to Norway so badly!
I'm not surprised to see NZ on the list. Everyone was so genuine, so hospitable.
Hahahaha, NZ isn't safe! Tourists, heck, BABIES get murdered here all the time.
Nothing is as perfect as you can imagine and you really don't know that until you live here.
Go Denmark! I like living in a country where i don't have to lock my door, where i can walk aroud safely and where i have never seen a gun in my life :)
Uh, so what's the difference between a city and a country?
Looks like beautiful cities. I'll never have scrilla to travel there anytime soon or ever.
Ha! I thought Singapore would be on the list. Guess not
@Vacantwhispers@xanga - hahahhaha.. hey... shhhhh i was proud to see nz on that list! but that is true..... but at least its not too bad for tourists right? those babies were murdered by their own families! its insane... lol... wanna attack the legal system -.- 5 years for killing own daughter...
3 picturesque countries - they are on my 'must visit' list.
@evyluvsu@xanga - Why would you be proud of such a huge lie? Tourists getting killed isn't something I see as "not too bad", to be honest.
NZ is bad depending on where you live/stay. I would have to say that I do not think it is safe at all..
@Vacantwhispers@xanga - every place has their own faults no where is 100% and if you are so shamed of new zealand then get the fuck out! move to china or something.. get killed there ten million times faster than you would here.
What about Liechtenstein? I've never heard anything bad from there
@evyluvsu@xanga - I never said I was ashamed of it. I'm just being honest. You can go back to wherever you came from though.
I'll keep my culture and my country but I won't be lying or making shit up about it, thanks.
@Vacantwhispers@xanga - wat makes you think i'm not from nz? because i'm asian?? haha.. thats nice.. ur proving to xanga dat ur... hmm.. how to put it... racist?
nz has its beauty it has its flaw... u talked about babies getting killed... yea.. by their own fathers, cousins and brothers... babies are hardly tourists so i wasn't lying.... i'm not making up shit and i'm not saying we're perfect =.= gosh..
er.. singapore is safe! :p
knew england wouldn't be on there XD
i've always wanted to go to norway. The people who came up with the rankings must have forgotten about Singapore!
& i tink by the title - cities, u mean auckland, copenhagen & oslo?
Cant speak for NZ coz i've never been there....but can definitely give my 2 cents worth for Norway(Oslo) & Denmark(Copenhagen) from my own experience.
Copenhagen is safe generally.. except for the known sleazier places like istedgade(red light district), christiania(famous for their open-peddling of hash), especially Norrebro where shootings were rampant the past months. But i've been to all 3 places several times in the day and istedgade at nite for dinner & still gotten back alive and in 1 piece!
Norway is safe too... with only several places like Rosenkrantz gate area to avoid after hours. but becoz i've visited Oslo only once earlier this year in Aug, i cant say more about the safety since i was probably sleeping when crimes occured.
One last thing to note about the hitch-hiking statement for Denmark, it's not a best benchmark to determine if the country is safe. I hitchhiked in Jordan.. sounds crazily dangerous but its actually how locals get around there. Just becoz hitchhiking is not common in ur country(like mine), it's not a good judge to whether a country is safe!
I'm going to New Zealand for graduation! I'm now psyched.
When you say 'Cities' do you mean 'Countries'... Because unless I missed something...
I wouldn't say NZ is safe...especially Auckland, to be more specific, West and South Auckland...
people from these places are also the nicest tourists
I've been to Denmark and Norway and LOVED them. I really really miss it, actually, and want to go back... :(
Wow, Japan is on that top 10 list too. Japan isn't really safe... at all haha.
