If you think you've been to the best party ever, think again. Try to remember the most fun you've had at a summer party. Imagine how crowded it was or try to think about what the best party could be like. The Full Moon Party is the image of that.
With a name like that, you'd imagine what on earth you're celebrating. It is, what it sounds like: An all night beach party celebrated on the night of every full moon. Where do you sign up for this party? The island of Ko Pha Ngan in Thailand.
24 years ago (One year before I was born haha!), the first Full Moon Party started in 1985 with 20-30 travelers giving thanks at a disco. Since then, through word of mouth, the event draws a crowd of 20,000-30,000 people. As night turns into day, the beach is filled with a crowd celebrating with an enthusiastic crowd. Jugglers, fire-eaters and body painters entertain the high adrenaline party goers looking for something crazy to do.
All the local bars and clubs on the waterfront stay open and play all kinds of music such as R&B, drum and bass, house, dance and reggae. There is something for everyone at this party. It is a place to let loose and have a whole lotta fun. (No party poopers allowed) This is a party where you'll meet people from all around the world. You'll dance, sweat your butt off and have the time of your life and wonder why you didn't do this sooner!
Hardcore parties require lots of energy to keep up with everyone. "Buckets" are dangerously delicious alcoholic beverages that are so cheap, you might want to be careful with how many you get. You basically get a bucket (Like a sand bucket you build sand castles with) and it comes with a bottle of Thai whisky, redbull, coke and half a dozen straws. (Fun for everyone!) Caffeine and taurine drinks are also popular at Full Moon Parties. There is also a presence of drugs at this party, which shouldn't be a problem as long as you stay safe and keep away from that crowd.
