Over 200 frequent-flier-mile addicts in one week traveled to Germany, Norway and France to meet with top pilots and executives at four different airline hangars. The Mega DO, they participants called themselves, used the trip to investigate how airlines work. The executives met them with open arms, dined with them, gave them tours of the engines as well as some singing and dancing.
The airline workers educated them on dealing with bird-strikes, how to access airport clubs, how pilots prepare for long journeys and scheduling maintenance for airplanes.
Some participants also trained for a few hours to be a flight attendants, and had the chance to work as one on their flights by preparing meals, pouring drinks and giving demonstrations.
Other organizers of the trip loved flying so much, they wanted to give back to the airlines by connecting from airport to airport instead of direct flights to boost ticket sales.
