  • In-flight Routine Behaviors and Habits

During all these years of traveling,  I started noticing that several things are routine on a plane. It doesn't matter the airline, the destination or the kind of flight we're on. It just happen.

    1. You could be ten persons or two hundreds on the same flight. But be sure, one or two of them, will walk up and down the corridor the whole flying time.

    2. When it's time to go out and passengers from economic class walk through the corridors they stare with a little of envy and curiosity the empty business class (large) seats. I always do.

    3. Nobody pays attention at the safety instructions during the departure.

    4. After lunch, you can't put the things back into the tray as they were put originally.

    5. After the landing. The moment from when the wheels touch the ground and the "beep" saying "Take off your security belts" look interminable.

    6. When the plane is full of Italians. Be sure, they ALWAYS applaud when the plane lands.

    7. When it's lunch time it is also turbulence time.

    8. If you're interested in seeing outside, your seat will be on the wings. (Editors note: Why is this always true?!)

    9. Before landing, everybody feels the need to go to bathroom.

    10. When the captain talks about weather conditions, flight plans and thanks for flying with his airline, he always mumble it that you can't understand a word.

Did it happen to you too?

Nothing like that happened to me when I took my first few flights a few weeks ago. and I actually sat in the business select group despite paying the lowest fare.

#6 Even though I do not think their were Italians,  it has been known for us to be on flights when people have done this

#11 When we come to land,  everyone on the plane seem to shut up,  people prefer to look out the windows,

    1. I fly a lot of transcontinental flights and this is definitely not true, unless you are referring to flight attendants.
    2. I don't. I've been in business class before, no need to envy what I can easily obtain.
    3. I did when I was little. Not anymore. I have them memorized.
    4. I totally can... Pplay tangrams! It will increase your skills in this area.
    5. Not really.
    6. This happens a lot to me, and I've never been in a predominantly Italian plane.
    7. It can be true some of the time, but in my experience definitely not a majority of the time.
    8. See 7.
    9. See 8.
    10. This is about the only one I agree with, and it is also only true part of the time.

What is with the poor writing/editing in this article? Is the writer not a native English speaker? If so, I can understand the poor grammar. But still, the editors should have caught that.

    11. If you're a younger generation visibly identifiable Muslim, you'll be somewhat loud and happy and carefree so as to put the other passengers at ease.  If you're an older immigrant Muslim, you'll be paranoid that other people are thinking evil thoughts about you, and while you'll want to possibly ask your travel companion whether they think so too, you're going to avoid doing so because it'll mean speaking in another language and that might freak people out.

it always happens to me. But I think ppl use the bathroom on the plane, becuz it should be cleaner then the bathroom in the airport terminal

Wouldn't know. Never flew before because it would be expensive for all five of us to, let alone my parents.
