  • What is with all the Time Traveling?

Try wrapping your brain around the idea of time travel. You've seen it in movies, television and science fiction novels. It's an ongoing debate whether we can truly prove the theory of time travel. It can be explained through Physics, Philosophy, and Religion. Try to Google the idea of Time Travel and prepare to be overwhelmed with lots of theories around this puzzling idea.

Time traveling seems like it would be pretty awesome. You get to relive moments you'll never forget, or you could see things you forgot happened. Imagine time traveling to the moment you were born. Or going back in time to an era you weren't around for, like the 70's or Ancient Egypt. The possibilities are infinite.

It seems like the world is interested in this idea. Its a thought to say the least, but lately, time travel seems to be popping up everywhere.

    Journeyman:

In 2007, I got addicted to an NBC television drama called Journeyman. It only lasted one season, but some of you might remember Dan Vasser, the San Francisco reporter who travels through time. (Sounds like my kind of guy. A Journalist and a time traveler. Can we say: You're awesome?)

The show focused on his "journey" of random time traveling and how he changes someone's destiny. He has no control over the shifting through time and the only warming is feeling lightheaded and dizzy. A physicist concludes the possibility of tachyon particles causing his jumps through time and people born around the time of a rare comet passing also have this ability. He accepts this role and tries to handle being a good family man while trying to help those in his path.

    Heroes:

YATTA! (I did it!) If you don't know who Hiro Nakamura is on Heroes, then you might need to go back in time and watch this show. (Or just watch it on DVD) The lovable Japanese character who has the ability of space-time manipulation always tries to be the good hero.

He discovers his power one day at work when he turns a clock back by one second. Hiro travels through time on a mission after witnessing a bleak future. Time after time, he uses his power to fulfill his destiny as a hero to those in need.  Sometimes, his powers are out of control and currently, they are weakened. Hiro's ability makes him a serious and determined human being who loves the idea of helping others.

    The Time Travelers Wife:

Probably one of my favorite books and movies this year, The Time Travelers Wife takes you on a journey through love and time. The novel turned movie follows the story of Henry, a man with a genetic disorder that causes him to time travel.

Henry begins time traveling at the age of five; unable to control when he leaves and where he goes. Sometimes, stress seems to trigger time travel. He meets his future wife, Clare who is the first person who learns about his special ability. Without giving away the entire story, they fall in love and try to live a normal life surrounding his random time travels. A geneticist diagnoses his condition as Chrono-Displacement, a rare gentic disorder that causes him to travel through time.

The intimate story sucks you into a world where you can't help but root for Clare and Henry. No matter where he travels, they find one another and remain deeply in love.

If you could time travel, where would you go? Do you think we'll ever be able to time travel?

First off, you missed an epic time travel show: Dr. Who. Seriously, top-notch writing and great acting as well.

If I could time travel, I honestly don't know when I would want to see. There are so many choices. I would have to devote a lot more thought than I currently can.

    Cheers,

    Taylor

oh man! I tutor Chinese at a high school, and we watched a really sad movie about time travel today, and it was all I could do to keep from crying in front of a room full of high schoolers D:

I time travel every time I fly to and return from Japan. In reality though time travel into the future could be possible but not into the past. Obviously the past has already happened it's over. However even though it might be possible at some point I would not want to travel to the future. I mean it will either have all gone to heck in a handbasket by then or it will be so technologically advanced that I would basically be a complete idiot by comparison. Either way I don't see how it could possibly be fun.

I always love Hiro and Heroes. I wish I have his powers but then again messing around the timelines with ultimately destroy our own existence.

I don't think that time travel will be possible this century. I don't know where or when I would go to if I could time travel.

I'd go to the day I was born and redo my life.
