Those are very pretty and figure forgiving. I might even consider wearing some of them if the season, the weather, and the circumstances called for it and I could still shuck it all when I got in the mood for something lighter. You have to understand that in many of the places where such are worn, the option to dress lighter does not exist in public. And in some of those places, certain colors (like red, for instance) or simply bright colors can abruptly be forbidden by fatwa and women beaten for wearing them. Its nice to live where we have choices where even exotic fashions like the ones above are acceptable - though of course they would definitely turn heads, which is definitely NOT the point of dressing modestly.
The first one is cool.
Like any model wearing clothing, the clothing always looks better on the models than on real women.
I honestly don't find any of these attractive. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all.
I don't wear these, but I do find them pretty. If I were the type to wear them, I'd def be lusting over basically all of them except the white ones and the orange one.
I think they're pretty... :)
They are really lovely. I like the topmost 2 on the right out of all the pictures here. But i do not think i would wear it because the style doesn't suit me > <
WOW those are so beautiful- much more then my uber cheesey ones I wear (which look like giant moomu's then abayas)
I find it sad that things that were - and in many places still are - used to oppress women have now entered pop culture and the fashion world. Shouldn't we be working on emancipating the thousands of women in the middle east who are forced to wear these rather tent-like garments by their male counterparts, instead of enabling their oppressors? Thats just my opinion, but I really urge people to think about it from this POV.
@loving_emerald@xanga - It's a start. Look at Western women's attire in the early 1900s. Give 'em a hundred years an they will be wearing black mini skirts and go go boots.
Top right corner photo, girl on the right... Love it.
Tripcrazed, im liking the fashion abroad blogs!!
I think they look marvelous!
I used to live in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where abayas like these were very common. I wore one! And I still have it.
I could never wear those fashions myself, but they look beautiful!
