Image SourceToday, we celebrate and honor military veterans that have dedicated their lives to serving our country. It is a holiday that doesn't involved presents, cards or extended vacations. It is a day for all of us to reflect about something that affects our everyday lives.
You don't have to currently know someone or have known anyone who served or is going to serve to commemorate this day. These militant heroes are diligent human beings that dedicate their lives to protect our country. As we sip our morning coffee, go to school and go home at night, they are constantly in the face of present danger. Those who are currently serving in Iraq or Afghanistan should be in our thoughts (and if you are religious) and prayers in hopes of returning home safely.
Whatever your stance is on whether or not we should be involved in these unfortunate situations doesn't change the fact that someone's friend, lover or spouse is on the front line.
Out of respect, we at TripCrazed thank these brave soldiers for a selfless decision in protecting the freedoms and rights we often take advantage of here in America. And to our veterans who have returned safely are also appreciated. Our country has seen many wars and it is important to recognize their sacrifices. We remember those we have lost in battle and hope that their family and loved ones can find peace in their everyday lives. We hope our country can move forward in world peace and being united with countries we may not currently agree with.
Personally, today I think about my brother who served in Vietnam, years before I was even born. Being in the army gave him purpose, direction and a grand appreciation for life. I will never forget how important serving and being a part of protecting our country meant to him. It changed his life forever. He passed away ten years ago this past June of non-military related reasons. His flag from his coffin hangs proudly in our living room as a reminder of his great accomplishment.
It is only one of so many stories I know people must have out there. I hope everyone can take some time today to reflect on how important Veterans Day is, not only in our country, but to the World.
Thank you to all the soldiers and Veterans from your Editor,
Teresa at TripCrazed.

Gotta love Armistice day.
Thank you veterans, whether you're dead or alive.
Thanks for having this post. Haven't come across anything like it anywhere else amongst the other public Xanga blogs, much like this one. God bless the vets, we take you all too much for granted.
Thanks for posting this. My dad, brother and a few of my cousins are vets. I appreciate all soldiers, past, present and training for the future, for their dedication and sacrifices they have made for their country. We owe them so much for fighting for us. Thank you, soldiers. God bless.
