Years ago, someone told me that most people will live and die within a certain radius of where they grew up. It means that people get comfortable where they were raised and tend to stick to it.
Meanwhile, you have others who are traveling nomads and call the roads their home.
I was born and raised in my hometown for the past 23 years. I've lived in a few places nearby the general area of where my parents live, but nothing drastically far.
Hometowns give you that fuzzy feeling inside of warm memories. Remembering the streets you used to play on, the local hangouts and familiar faces that never fade away.
You'll grow older and your neighborhood might morph into something new, but your memories will always remain. It is something that will stay with you forever.
Where are you from and how long have you lived in your hometown?

My town is quite big I think - wiki says population of 76k people - there's a few sub-towns in it, I've lived in two of them for pretty much my whole life. The one I live in now is about half an hour away from where I used to live but still in the 'five-towns' district and I've lived there maybe 3 years ish.
I hope I can move somewhere different when I grow up. A different country would be nice.
i was born in nj and grew up in another town in nj -- east brunswick. i lived there for about 8 years, and then moved to other places and finally i'm settled in san diego, CA. i loved it here. i never want to leave. but i'd like to live in taiwan and canada for some time. :)
I'm originally from the D.C. area, but have lived in W.Va for the last 15 years. Went to college and now grad school within 30mins of where I live now. It's small town USA and quaint, but I hope to not spend the brunt of my years here.
haha. I was born in New York. I lived there for two weeks and moved out, haven't lived there since.
i'm from new jersey and i have lived in my hometown for 16 years and counting.
I average 5 years in every place I've lived in, in 4 states.
18 years since I was born.
I'm originally from Westerville, a little suburb of Columbus, Ohio. I lived there for 18 years. I don't want to come back.
I'm from San Jose, California. My parents lived about a mile east of where we currently live for a few years with my older sister, and when they got pregnant with me we moved into our current house that we've been in for 17 years and counting. My parents were both born and raised in Kansas but they moved out to California in the 80's and lived in a bunch of different places before they settled down in SJ.
Born in very northern Ontario, Canada. Moved further south to the Niagra area, moved to the States to Ohio when I was nine, moved out when I was 16 up until I was 20...I bounced around to like 7 different towns around the area over the years. Kind of lived in hotels for a while in Georgia while my husband finished his Army training, now we're in Kansas. I'm moving back to Canada while he is depolyed. I'll be moving back to Kansas a year after that, and then...Army life...who knows where we'll be going next. We go somewhere new every 2 to 4 years. :)
So I've always moved around a lot.
I live in a Tennessee city that most northerners would call REALLY country (I don't think of it like that though). I have lived here my entire life. I kinda doubt that I'll ever move, but who knows. One things for sure, I ain't ever leaving Tennessee. At least I hope not.
I've never really moved. I lived here all my life.
Boca Raton Florida.. I'd say less than 3 years. I moved shortly to Sarasota Florida, and then to NYC where I'm currently staying :D
I don't live there anymore but I was did for twelve years.
I have live in the city where I born all my life, the only times we have not live there is on holidays and day visits to other cities in the UK.
I was born and raised a Houstonian - third generation at that. My great uncle still lives in the house that he, my grandmother and their other sibling grew up in! My grandparents still live in the house that my dad grew up in. My uncle on my mom's side, moved into a house down the street from the one he, my mom and their other siblings grew up in.
I will probably move back to Houston after college (I'm only an hour and a half away at the present though - attending school). But, we'll see. It could be exciting to go somewhere else, but I think I will always refer to Houston as my home.
las vegas and lived here all my life but born in another country. vegas does get old fast if you lived here this long
20 years since i was born
three months. then i moved with my family.
Born in Queens, NY then I moved to England at the age of 3, then back to NY 3 years later, then at the age of 10 I moved to Miami, Florida and now I go to college in upstate New York.
I've lived in Philly my whole life...26 years. Even in the same house.
I live in the capital of California and have since I was born xD. Seventeen years man.
We're moving to Walnut Creek, an hour away. It's not THAT far...
@nooitzben@xanga - I hate Vegas xD Well, the part with the casinos. It's hella cheesy.
It's not the town that chains me here. It's the people. Eventually, when I'm old and rich and have money to travel whenever and wherever, I will move to where I want and just visit said people. And if I'm REALLY rich, I'll just move them to where I am. ;)
