Now, I know everyone is drooling over the site of delicious pizza, but there is a food war to be determined! Which city holds the title for the better pizza?
Pizza is a delicious and savory delicacy and can be eaten on the run, or in a timely matter if chosen. Eat it while watching the football game or go gourmet and get some fancy toppings.
But, these two cities have a rep of having very well known cheese and sauce on bread.
Chicago Deep Dish Pizza:
- Invented at Pizzeria Uno in 1943.
- Has a buttery crust that is a few inches tall.
- Large amounts of cheese and chunky tomato sauce.
- It is nothing like the original Italian pizza.
New York styled Pizza:
- Originated in the early 1900s.
- Resembles the pizza style of Naples, Italy.
- It is a wide, thin and foldable slice.
- Hand tossed and usually light on the sauce and cheese.
I have to say, I am a HUGE fan of pizza and I love them both.
What is your favorite kind of pizza: Chicago or New York style?

I just like pizza. For me, it is the sauce that's going to make or break the pizza, not the crust.
i don't eat pizza
They both look good, but generally I like the thick crust. Never really tried the thin crust though..
I like thick bases better.
new york! i can't stand deep dish - too much.
I live and grew up in NYC so I naturally love NY pizza but lately it's been slacking cause of the higher prices of cheese and flour. I still love my NY pizza, but I LOOOVE Gino's east deep dish pizza. Holy crap it's delicious! Â Currently I am in love with this place in Philly that makes pizza that resembles NYC pizza in the 90s- with lots of gooey cheese! MMM
Love both. Am a NYC native, but enjoy Chicago Deep Dish style too.
That picture isn't a very good representation of true Chicago deep dish style pizza.

That is more of a Chicago deep dish pizza. It has a very very thick, crumbly crust with a layer of cheese, then the toppings, then a LOT of chunky tomato sauce, then a light sprinkling of Parmesan cheese and herbs on the top.
And it can kick NY style pizzas ass any day. Chicago style is meant to be eaten with a fork and knife, like a real meal.
(Yes, I am a proud Chicago native)
New York Pizza all the way :)
NY pizza, definitly!
Hmmm pizza-- I'd have to say Great Plains' pizza. It's a local favorite. Perhaps resembling more the deep dish pizza. It also has a lot of cheese and the dough is made out of oat, wheat, or white. I prefer the oat myself. Served with honey to dip the crust in in.
Outside of that, I'll do almost any pizza as long as it's not too greasy--and as long as it uses tomato based pizza sauce.
@genkii_to_ureshii_risu@xanga - and as long as it doesn't have pesto-- I had a bad reaction to some pizza in Russia. Amazing taste-- horrible consequences almost entailing a trip to the Russian ER.
NY pizza...I LOVE thin crust.
NYC style! (Though Chicago-style's nice, too. lol.)
um. BOTH.
at the same time..
HAHAH just kidding :)
i love chicago style pizza hehe, but if it comes down to a snack i'd go for the ny style.
I'd have to say Chicago style. I might be a bit biased now that I live in Chicago. I have to agree that Gino's East makes a good pie as does Giordanos, but Gino's East is my fave.
chicago, obviously
Maybe I'm a bit biased that I've lived in Chicago my whole life, but deep dish is the best!
Chicago style. Thicker is better.

The Chicago style looks so so good. I could probably eat the NY slice in one bite.
NY! Chicago looks so fat LOL
i love thin base.NY is my favorite but Chicago is good too.
As far as I'm concerned, Chicago style is not pizza. It is pizza PIE. Note the emphasis on PIE. New York style, on the other hand, is basically the definition of pizza.
And I agree with someone else who said that is not very representative of Chicago style pizza. Sorta looks more like Pizza Hut.
Chicago all the way, baby!
CHICAGO. But I was raised in Chicago, so I maaaaay be a little biased. ;)
