QOTD Wednesday: Do you check Facebook on vacation?
Simple enough right? A vacation is supposed to be relaxing, entertaining and a place to enjoy new things right?
Now, with phones that have Facebook and laptops that are light as a feather, it is easier to stay connected back at home.
Wasn't the purpose to go on vacation to avoid social networking and slaving yourself away to status updates?
Or do you just HAVE to share pictures of that killer sunset you just took with your phone?
Do you check Facebook on vacation? Do you try to avoid it?

I have not been on a vacation since I signed up on Facebook a few months ago but I probably would if I had my computer with me.
No time for FB on vacation.
Can I say it depends on where I am? If I'm in the country, yes. My phone connects automatically. Out of the country? No. I don't usually take the time to access the computer in order to check it. I have better things to do when I'm out of the country, like see the world.
When I was in the Dominican Republic, FB was kind of how I updated friends and family about what was going on with me (I was gone for 6 weeks - study abroad/intern abroad).
On other sorts of vacations, I usually check it every couple of days - maybe once a day...
I try not to think about the internet while I travel and focus more on the things happening around me. But I guess I still check Facebook and other internet sites like once a week/in two weeks. Just want to update news about me and make sure everybody's doing fine back home :)
LOL no but i do get very antsy when I'm away from all communication from the real world.
sometimes i do, sometimes i don't. It depends on where i go and how much "fun" I'm having. Sometimes I don't go places that have decent internet (crazy in 2009, huh?). I have the internet on my phone, but it drains by battery down really quick to even surf for a few moments.
I can't check my Facebook because vacation would be staying at home in the province. And the only internet around is shitty and I won't bother to use it because I'll just get really pissed.
No. I check it when I get home and post my photos then.
I check my Xanga whilst on holiday, most people will pay to use the Internet per 12 minutes = 1 euro in the hotel to check their Facebook accounts and the age who is more likely are the 13-18 years old age range.
I always try to check my Xanga where ever I go in the world, however in our hotel in Egypt last year we could pay to use it for about 20 minutes, I managed to go without checking my Xanga for a whole week.
As for Facebook I rarely use this site.
When I visited my brother's family this past summer, I did have the urge to check Facebook at least once a day and felt the need to read everyone's status updates. In fact, I feel the need to read everyone's status updates every day, for some reason. Since I don't have cable, it seems like I get most of my news from FB. I think it would be hard for me personally to stay away from FB on vacation. I would also want to update people on if I was doing something neat while on vacation!
I never check my facebook xD
I do check my xanga though, if possible ;) It's not what I NEED to do, but if I've got the chance and time to be online, then I usually come on xanga as well.I only check it if I'm bored.
yes ... if i can find a pc or i took my laptop along.... >.i would check xanga too!
It get's sent to my phone soo i guess i do..
a good indication:
at school I check facebook almost on the hour
at home during breaks, I forget to check facebooks for days
I try to avoid it. Then when I get back I feel extra loved when I see all the new notifications!
@lot223@xanga - What's "real?" Lol.
I rarely get messages as it is on FB, Xanga I like to check my traffic.
FUCK no!
@Unfettered_Mind@xanga - lol basically work, haha. and i mean, you can consider xanga, facebook, msn, and all that stuff "real" as well because a vacation is when you're in lala land ;)
It depends on where I'm on vacation at.
i haven't gone to a vacation, but i don't even check it when i'm at home. so my guess would be nope. no time for facebook.
I don't think I've ever considered a vacation an opportunity to completely disconnect from the world. Do you not take your cell phone on vacation with you? I don't consider checking facebook to be "slaving away". I just want to know what people are up to, say hi to some friends, tell them I'm having a great time, look at pictures. It's not like it takes hours on end, although it could, but at the end of the day...why not?
I don't even get on facebook when I'm not on vacation
