It was announced today that plans are moving forward for a Disneyland in Shanghai, China. It is the inspiration for today's Match Up Monday: Disneyland vs. Walt Disney World.
The only difference between the two is size and location. (I would have thought the difference would be something more elaborate.) But, both parks serve the same purpose: to provide fun at an amusement park and lots of Mickey Mouse.
If only we could decide which park has the most magic...
Disneyland - Located in Anaheim, CA and opened in 1955.
- Some of the most known rides are Indiana Jones Adventure, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
- Is divided into realms such as Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.
- Is the second most visited park after Walt Disney World in Florida.
Walt Disney World - Located in Orlando, Florida and opened in 1971.
- Some of the most known rides are Space Mountain, The Tower of Terror and Rockin Roller Coaster
- Contains four theme parks, two water parks and 23 hotels.
- The four theme parks are Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom.
Have you been to either theme park? Which one would you rather visit and why?

Magic Kingdom ALONE is spread out into "realms" such as dventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.
Disney World definitely wins. Better all around and feels much more magical.
Disneyland. It's the original, It's the classic.
Disneyland is great. I've been there once. Next time, I'd love to visit Disney world! I heard that the park is huge.
I have been to Disneyland in CA one time and Disneyworld in FL three times.
I don't remember much of Disneyland, but I do remember thinking Disneyworld was better (I'd been to Disneyworld two times before going to Disneyland) so, I'm going to go with that. However, I don't really know why I thought it was better - maybe just the fact that it's bigger - more magical, I guess? *shrugs*
i've never been to florida and i live in southern california so disneyland california!!!.
I was born in Huntington Beach Ca. I went 3 times a year. I went twice to Disney World. Ive been to Disneyland 13 times. You do the math. Disneyland Actually has Walt Disney's footprint on it. He lived and went to the park Daily. World is a has been.........its only good going about three times in your life.......anyway yep LAND
@Jeremy_Sheer@xanga - Maybe it's the fact that you're so much closer that gets you going there so much? At least thats what I would assume.
Lol. Me and my sister go multiple times a year to Disney World. I go maybe 3 times a year but she can afford to go 8. And one of my friends and his family are huge Disney fans (their house is frickin Disney all over) and they go once a month to Disney World.@foggysunnymorning@xanga - It is! You should definitely visit! I knew a famous artist from online who loved Disney. She actually worked in Disney Land. She loved it. Finally a couple months ago she came and visited Disney World. She said she was amazed by how big it was, especially the castle. I think her overall impression is that some of the rides in Disney Land were better but Disney World had rides and "places" that they didn't and overall the scenery/magical feeling was better.
i've only been to disney land so i would love to visit disney world soon
i havent been to either. BUT IM GOING NEXT SUMMMER :D
Disneyworld definitely <3
@MangoWOW@xanga - One of my friend just went to Disneyworld in October. She and her family stayed in the parks for a week. They had lots of fun. I'll make a trip to Florida and visit the Disneyworld someday in future.
I lived near Orlando, FL, so yes, I've been to Disney World. I currently live on the west coast (near Seattle) and will probably visit Disney Land, as well. I think Disney World is good, but definitely overcrowded most of the year. I think Epcot was my favorite park, though.
@MangoWOW@xanga - little secret awesome person you :) California Residents get discounts for being residents ;)
@Jeremy_Sheer@xanga - Lol so do Floridians ;)
@MangoWOW@xanga - um Disneyland was spread out WAY before the Magic Kingdom
ALONE is spread out into "realms" such as dventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. All Disneyland first. + there are now 6 Disney resorts and 12 parks in the world. Disney just planned to open a park in Shanghai! so World is nothing but a copy of the Orginal Park LAND for the win PLus i Live in CA and i do articles for disney! So there!!!!!
@Jeremy_Sheer@xanga - Once again, you live in Ca so you'd be biased and even then, just because it's the original doesn't mean it's better (I hate it when people assume that). Whether you write articles for them or not doesnt mean anything (just more favorable bias if anything) so I don't know why you even brought it up. I can say "I own all the Disney movies SO THERE." And it would prove just as much as you writing for them did. LOL
Disneyland since I'm from So. Cal. There's no place like home.
I've only been to Disney World, but my vote is that it's better than Disney Land. I actually just got back from a week there and had a great time, there's so much to do with the 4 parks and we stayed at one of their resorts. I love that Disney World is just that, a world unto itself. You're riding the bus down the highway and think you're somewhere in Orlando...nope, still on Disney property, it's just that big.
I went to a exhibit about Walt Disney and the history of Disneyland and Walt Disney World a couple of years ago at Hollywood Studios. While Disneyland was the original from him, his big dream was to build Disney World and that's why it was specifically named "Walt Disney World" in honor of him as he died before it's completion. I think it's also so much bigger because there was so much land in FL which they didn't have in CA at the time of Disney World's purchase. Better for expansion.
Anyways, my vote is Disney World all the way. :)
Disney World!
Disneyland. It's a classic. More intimate... Disneyworld takes too many darn days to experience..
I've been to Disneyland. I live about 5-10 mins away. I don't know which one I prefer because I haven't been to Disney World yet. But Disneyland does have the Tower of Terror. It's just on the other side of Disneyland which I think is called World Disney? I'm not quite sure. This side is mostly the rides part and the other part is more of looking around and children rides.
I have been to both. The magic is gone from both parks once you grow up.
Disney World is totally better. Magic Kingdom equates to just about everything in Disneyland, and Disney World has Epcot, which has the World Showcase.
THE ONE IN FLORIDA. It's got this AWESOME voice -acting system for the public to mess with! XD
