I was having a discussion with my mom the other day about backpacking. Its amazing how one could live off the bare necessities in one large backpack.
It made sense to her, because in past trips to Puerto Rico, she'd always over stuff her bags and bring things she didn't even use!
But now, with so many weight restrictions and new fees to check luggage, people are buckling down on what they REALLY need on vacation. Meanwhile, some just need to bring everything and the kitchen sink and will pay the fees.
How much do you travel with on vacation? Could you limit yourself to one backpack?

I usually travel with too much stuff.
No, we sometimes travel with to much, we always buy new tshirts on holiday.
I've gone some place for a week and was able to do it with just a carry on backpack. With the weight restrictions and my frugality, I have learned to leave what I can and take what I can't live without.
It depends. I usually can survive with just a small carryon even on month-long international trips. However, if I'm flying to Vietnam then I'll bring 3 large suitcases since my relatives love American gifts and foods.
i traveled to asia for 3 weeks and europe for 2 weeks with just my backpack!
I've learned a great technique: Separate into TWO piles: Take and Leave Behind.
Once you've done that, now go back in the Take pile and repeat! I usually do this process about 4 times and I'm down to a backpack for 1 month or 2 and two carry-on size suitcases for 4 months in France!
