  • Do It Before You Die Thursday: Ride a Gondola

Can you die right now? Haven't you always wanted to have a romantic stroll on a Gondola in the canals of Venice?

You see it in movies, people talk about being proposed on one (So cute!) and it is just something you have to do!

In February, 2004, I was lucky enough to ride a gondola. It was semi romantic. I was on a class trip and my boyfriend at the time was on the Gondola.

Along with my AP History teacher and other students.

Anyway, this is the best way to experience Italy and especially Venice, the city of water canals.

You'll get some great views, great photographs and a great experience!

Have you been on a Gondola? Are you excited to ride on one?

I've been on a Gondola before, when I was 9 in Las Vegas staying at the Venetian. They have a Gondola ride through the hotel.

However, I'd love to go in Venice with my fiancee or husband (whenever that decides to happen). :P

This past June, I took a guided tour of Italy through Collette Vacations. It was the best time of my life!!!! Everyone needs to visit that country. The Gondola experience was great. Our gondola had the singer and the accordian player. Tourists and other locals were taking pictures of us and waving. I felt like a movie star :)

I went on a Vietnamese gondola. It was romantic (the scenery), but because I was with my youth group. . . it was awkward being partnered up with a member. I
There were photographers and merchants trying to sell you your photos and snacks.. It was out in Vinh Ha Long. The lotus plants were pretty.. they decorated the whole area with small "abandoned" buildings and statues.. There's a small tunnel like pathway under the mountainous rock that we go under. There were people swimming in the water (looked fun, and it wouldn't hurt to dive in because . . .) It showered like crazy, and it felt good since Vietnam's usually a hot humid country. It was like taking a shower.. I just feel bad for the paddler. It's hard work paddling around a giant pond 5 times around the lake.

I'd definitely try going on an Italian gondola, at night, with accordion music, and spaghetti/garlic buttered bread on board with some italian soda/wine.. Yeah, along with a lover. That'd be NICE.

I went on a gondola in Venice, but it wasn't romantic because it was with 3 other backpackers. Haha. I did enjoy it though. Hopefully, my husband and I can go soon.

I went on a Gondola when I was 14. It was anything but romantic as I with with three friends.  Also, rather expensive. I'm glad I can say I did it, but I think once may have been enough.
