I'm surprised Ariel from The Little Mermaid didn't have one of these. If Destination Weddings were so 2008, then Underwater Weddings are so 2009.
Imagine being under crystal clear waters secluded from the world and only with your loved one under the sea! With beautiful fishes swimming around you and the glow of the tropical coral reef.
I'd invest in some serious waterproof makeup.
If you're thinking about an interesting wedding, here are some details on getting married under the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
Departure is at 8:00AM from the Cairns Pier.
The trip to the reef takes about 2 hours (sailing). Once we arrive at the reef the ceremony will take place (of course under water).
We have our own underwater communication devices making us unique in the southern hemisphere since the whole wedding can be actually under water (not only the ring exchange sometimes quoted as an underwater wedding).
During the day you can have your own videographer and/or photographer (beginning with your arrival on the yacht, under water until late afternoon when you leave the yacht).
After the wedding ceremony lunch will be served on your yacht.
You will have plenty of time to relax, snorkel, dive again or have a walk on a secluded island.
At around 3PM the yacht departs back to Cairns. During the return trip cheese platters, fruit platters and drinks will be served.
For almost $3000 this can be all yours! This includes all fees, permits, a private charter, meals and a waterproof Marriage Certificate.
Would you get married underwater? What do you think about Destination weddings?
Uh... No. Not a big fan of the custom anyway, but under water sounds really uncomfortable besides. Still, the beauty factor is there so why not just have the wedding in one of the public aquarium bubbles: all of the beauty with none of the gear or discomfort.
Nah, Im not into strange weddings. I mean, I would definitely want to visit and go and have fun! But when I get married it'll be all normal and beautiful.
I'd rather save the underwater stuff for the honeymoon. I want to say and hear "I do."
No.
No lady could win my heart.
I agree with joyouswind, I want to be able to hear and say "I do" and just focus on that person instead of whether or not my air tank is okay. Too much could go wrong, IMO. i mean, i don't want a traditional church wedding, but I wouldn't do something like this.
I'd rather go with destination wedding... under the sea is unique, so is parachuting or skydiving, but those aren't for me.
No to underwater, possible yes to Destination weddings of other sorts--like off to Europe or an island somewhere...a small wedding with just closest loved ones would be ideal, I think. But the costs may be an issue--I can't fathom going into debt over a wedding. I'd want to save the money for a down payment on a house instead. I guess we'd be in a perfect spot for honeymoon post-wedding without additional traveling while everyone else headed home, I suppose..?
Haha, I can't even swim, this is completely out of the question =D. But it sounds like a good deal for something different - don't most traditional weddings cost an average of $15-$20 thousand?
THAT'S SO COOL!!!!! except I can't possibly expect more than a handful of guests to be there... that's my only objection to this. I love scuba diving!
i misread the title to "underwear wedding"
That's awesome! LOL and the wedding in the video...I think their marriage is doomed...he dropped the ring! LOL I wouldn't have an underwater wedding, but I think it'd be fun to be the minister or an audience member at one! I'm not so sure about a destination wedding either. My mom got married in Hawaii, but I think I'd want to get married closer to home. *shrugs*
