New York City has been popping up with huge bus companies with great deals to Eastern locations. Companies like Bolt Bus and Mega Bus offer comfortable seating, wifi and plenty of services to places like Washington D.C., Philadelphia and Boston.
Plane rides are too expensive nowadays and these companies are offering prices as low as $1.
I found a great deal for November to visit Toronto, ON in Canada for $1 each way! This will be a 10 hour bus ride. I've done it before to Montreal and it was a pleasant experience. I took a red eye bus and slept the entire time.
But that wasn't my longest bus ride.
In 2006, I tagged along with my boyfriends family on a bus ride to Orlando, Florida. Yes, you heard right. A bus from New York City to Orlando, FL. A 24-hour bus ride.
We thought it would only make a few stops, but it stopped in every state we passed by, having to wake up every 3 hours. It was a crazy experience I'll never forget.
What was your longest bus ride? Would you save money for a longer journey?

18 hours. From GA to North Carolina. I have no idea why it took so long. It literally doubled the amount of time to take the trip. I was so stressed out because I was traveling alone, on less than acceptable greyhounds. It was so sketchy. and it was over $100 for the bus ticket! Needless to say I forked over the extra $40 to fly back home. NEVER AGAIN.
9 hours, Pittsburgh to Ocean City. It was both a shorter (and simpler) trip than taking the train, which would only get me to Baltimore anyway. It cost about a fifth of what flying would have cost.
$1 for a 10 hour ride? That's so cheap even by Philippine standards.
my longest was probably to Toronto Canada from North Carolina. I think if we hadnt stopped in New York it would have been close to a 20 hour drive.
I went from Provo Utah to Ft. Laurtedale Florida
umm hours? 2 days 19h 55 min
longest one ive taken and ive taken many lol
haha we have the megabus here too..infact im taking to megabus to a place thats 2 hours away..which isnt so bad ahah. It's £1 too ^^
It will be my first bus ride..instead of always getting the train to different countries ahha
Stockton to Bakersfield - 10 hrs?
13hrs. From Phuket back to Bangkok.
Our bus ride from Huntington, WV to Hagerstown, MD was 14 hours. By car this is a 6-hour trip. Lol. But my mom was pleasantly surprised to see me home a day early, and by the fact that she didn't have to take the six hours out the next morning and the six hours back after that. ^_^; It was worth the reaction.
sounds like fun
15 hours from dallas, tx to greeley, colorado (just north of denver)
17 hours from SE Texas to Ohio. It was awesomely fun, like a massive coed slumber party. Of course, it was a group trip and we weren't using public transportation, so it may be different in that light =]. Either way, I think it'd be fun. Talk about taking the scenic route!
longest bus ride was Jersey to Texas. longest car ride was when my husband and I drove from Arizona to Jersey(and back) in a little Hyundai Elantra with two cats.
About 22 hours from Brooklyn, New York to Orlando, FL. It went surprisingly quickly, though it was very difficult to sleep on the way there; the way back was easier.
From Amsterdam to Some where in spain... +24 hours due to traffic jams.. Horrible!
Oklahoma City to Miami, via Dallas and Shreveport, LA.....with stops, it took around 30 hours. Ahhhh...not too eager to do that again!
26 hours, Ohio to Florida. It was originally projected to be 23 hours, but there was a major accident on a highway at about 2 AM, so it was delayed.
My longest, and only bus ride was 53 hours from Olympia, WA to Independence, MO.
I don't remember sleeping the entire trip.
As we were crossing the mountains the bus kept breaking down and we had to pull over on the side of the road, which was I may add, scary as hell because it was inches away from being a straight drop of about 50 feet.
Which would have ouched us all pretty bad.

Can the bus companies really afford to do that? That's amazing!
To get to my wedding, my best friend took a bus from Columbus, OH, to Oklahoma City, and it took her 22 hours.
My longest bus ride was a 24 hour band trip from East Texas to Washington DC.
oh wow, ny to toronto!?!?! i think thats an excellent deal!!!!! .. my ex was always asking me to visit him there or him coming here .. mm. but the 10 hour part is a turn offf to meeeee
I've never taken the bus anywhere really except from Wildwood to Philly once back in July. My dad drives and he thinks bus terminals are shady anyway,so, yeah. And I actually heard about Megabus last year on FOX 29's 10 o'Clock News.
Only about 3 hours from Long Island to upstate... Seems so little compared to all the other long bus rides I hear about!
