  • To Rage or not to Rage?

Aggressive driving becomes common more and more today as we see it. For some of us it's on a daily basis. Some feel there is a level of justification when one aggressively drives their vehicle. But how far is too far?

My wife and I were returning home and we were traveling on a 4-Lane Highway (2 Northbound and 2 Southbound) While traveling we noticed signs that said "Construction Ahead Right Lane Closed". So, we like any responsible driver moved into the left lane.

Meanwhile we came up upon a on ramp and two cars pulled out. (From now on we will call them Car A and Car B) Car A immediately proceeded to merge into left lane because of the closing of the Right lane.

Then Car A realized that Car B was going to go around him so he could get a place further up in line. This must have infuriated Car A because he immediately pulled back out into the right lane blocking Car B.

Again Car A merges and Again Car B tries to get a spot farther up in the line and like clockwork Car A pulls back out Blocking Car B's intentions. This happen another time and then....

Car A begins to merge and Car B tries to go around and again Car A pulls out in front of Car B and then stops. The Driver of Car A gets out of his car points at Car B and proceeds to yell at Car B. Then Driver of Car A gets back in his car and continues driving.

Car A then merges and Car B tries to go around again....then of course Car A pulls back out blocking Car B again

Car B then merges in three cars behind Car A....(Car A won the war)

We thought it was over at that point and then we were proved wrong...

Car C flies by us and approaches the area where Car A was and Car A seeing the perceived injustice plays the same battle game with Car C until the point were the two lanes merged into one lane for real.

Now I know that people who fly by my car in this type of situation just to get further in the line may irritate me.

But is your spot in line worth a accident, fist fight or even death because you just wouldn't let it go? Or is a person justified to defend their spot in line?

    What are your thoughts?

No.  Some people are just testosteron fueled morons on wheels and, yes, that means women too.  Testosteron is all about agression and both genders have it... some in excess to what they should.

i think it's an accident waiting to happen.

Whoa, I have never seen someone do that o_O, Car A must have a really bad case of road rage.  I think it's rude for people to cut in front of others who have been waiting in line for a long time, especially during rush hour or something, but I don't think it justifies the other person "defending" their spot.  I usually let people in, because I believe in paying it forward and what goes around comes around: if I let someone in, they'll let someone else in, and so on and so on, until one day someone's going to let me cut in, and I'll be really grateful they did, especially if I'm already late (which seems to happen a lot these days o_O).

@onliadreamer@xanga - that's my mentality on it too. Besides, it's not worth getting into an accident if they're going to try and cut you off anyway.

I don't understand the point of driving so aggressively. It just causes accidents on the roads which results in more traffic. There's no point in weaving through traffic because, more often than not, you're wasting a ton of gas to get somewhere only a few minutes early. Car A needs to have his/her license revoked or go through driving school for reckless driving.

If someone has their turn signal on and gives me a few seconds to notice I will let them in. If a lane is closed let people merge. It  keeps traffic moving. I can't stand when I have my turn signal on and people speed up and pass me instead of just letting me over. One time I was trying to get over and some guy sped up so I couldn't get in front of him so I slowed down to get behind him. He then slowed down so I couldn't get behind him!!! Really dude??????? That made me angry...I started screaming at him and he finally let me pass. I know about the selfishness of not letting anyone in front of you but behind you???? Makes me nuts!!!

An artcar is the best way to combat road rage!
