The battle of the party cities! Even though I'd love to say New York City is the party city of the world that never sleeps, you have to give credit to Miami and Rio! They bring a new flavor to party goers who need to spice up the dance floor. If you're looking for hot weather, hot parties and hot people, both cities have a lot to offer in different aspects.
Miami, Florida: Hot days and cool nights: That is what you can expect in the beautiful city of Miami. Known for the beautiful life and celebrities that club hop; its hard to not want to visit Miami. One of the biggest music festivals is Winter Music Conference which takes place in South Beach during the end of March. If you're looking for great electronic music and live DJ's spinning on the beach, you have to experience this.
But there is a lot more to Miami than parties. (Even though you HAVE to check out the nightlife) If you just walk down the streets, especially Ocean Drive, you can get a free taste of the Art Deco architecture.
Also, Miami is a hot Latin capital. It is a central area for Cubans. Little Havana is the place to be if you want to experience Cuba. (Since we Americans can't visit!) You can get some great Cuban food on Calle Ocho; a very well known street in the Latin community.
And don't forget the beautiful beaches! Many consider the South Beach strip one of the most beautiful beaches in the United States. There are many ports with cruise ships that go out to the Caribbean so if you're sick of Miami (How could you be?) you can take a quick venture to the Bahamas or Bermuda.
The only downside to Miami is how overcrowded it can get. You can easily get stuck in tons of traffic year round. Also, South Beach can be
pricey. Flights can skyrocket for high seasons, such as March for Winter Music Conference. Hotels can fill up quickly as well, so if you want to hit up Miami, think fast and book early!
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: Oh the exotic city of Brazil, the jewel of South America's party life. Rio de Janeiro, which means "River of January" is a hot spot for nightlife. Rio is a nice option for Americans because their season schedule runs opposite from ours. Things start getting hot in October for this South American city. So if you're trying to hide from Winter this year, try visiting Rio to make your summer last.
If you're looking for exotic beats, then you're in the right city. Rio is the home of Samba, Choro and Bossa Nova. If you like to shake what your mama gave ya, this is the sexiest place to do so.
The best part of this city is probably Carnaval; the 2 week party that celebrates the period before the Roman Catholic period of Lent. I'd like to call it New Orleans times 1000. Plus look at all the great costumes!
The only bad part about this beautiful city is the long history it has for being a violent place to be. Crime is still high and it is not a place to walk around with flashy jewelry or iPod headphones. You will stick out as a tourist and
probably get robbed, so you must be extra cautious.
Which destination would you choose as a vacation and Why?
