Recently, I've fallen in love with the Art of traveling solo. There is something about the adventure of navigating your own path and not having to compromise with another person when it comes to being abroad. The freedom of not having to argue about what to see, what to do or how much money to spend. The only down side besides being alone, which in my opinion is a pretty big down side is picture taking! When you're solo, you end up having half of your pictures with a very long arm shot. (Insert typical MySpace picture here) Those get very uninteresting after a while. Luckily, I found a solution to this problem! The Gorilla Pod!
Actually, I literally found a solution to my problem. One of my friends had purchased this before his trip to South East Asia. I was in Central Park a few months ago and found one of these babies just lying on the ground. What is a Gorilla Pod you ask? No it not an iPod that looks like a gorilla, but instead it is the ultimate travel tripod. Its a flexible tripod that hooks to your camera and makes it very easy to capture photographs. No more myspace shots! It easily grips on to many surfaces and its flexible groove makes it easy to capture every moment of your travels! The best picture I took with my Gorilla Pod was hooking my camera on a light post in New York and capturing a video of New York City traffic on Houston Street.
Now I don't have to ask random strangers to take my photograph. (Which isn't too bad, you meet some interesting people that way!) I was very upset when the one thing I left for my trip to Hawaii was indeed my Gorilla Pod. Oh why couldn't I have forgotten something else like socks, not my Gorilla Pod!
If you check out the Gorilla Pod website, it helps you find the right fit for your camera make. And, it comes in swanky little colors too! The Gorilla Pod is a must have for your travel needs! For about 20 bucks, it is a great lifelong investment!
Would you purchase a Gorilla Pod? If you have one, what are some interesting ways you've used it?

I should get one. I'm tired of having to rearrange furniture and stacking books to get my camera to the spot I need to shoot.
That looks cool! I've never heared of it...
I bought one....and it broke in less then 3 minutes out of the package. No lie.
I thought "Ok, must have been defective"
Returned it, got another one. Checked it out, the new one seemed fine.
Two days into my trip, I find an amazing landscape. Connect the pod to my camera....and it breaks. In the same spot no less.
I was bitter.
So, no I won't be buying a third. Unless of course I had some generic brand or something...
I love my Gorilla Pod! haha
Sounds like something I'd definitely invest in.
haha, that's pretty cool... maybe I should get one.
Omw, that is soo cool! I gotta get me one!! It definitely would be better than having to ask a complete stranger that could run off with your camera to take your picture.
That's cool! I can think of several travel situations where that would have come in handy.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
