  • Tourists in Bangkok Are Scammed By Artists

Imagine just trying to enjoy your vacation in another country, a place so different from your culture. You're trying to respect their culture and instead you are the one being harassed. Corruption in Bangkok continues to grow at the local Suvarnabhumi Airport, where tourists are being targeted. European tourists feel they are being wrongly accused of shoplifting. Then, to stay out out trouble, they are being haggled to pay large fines to the Thai government.

Many feel this is part of the Thai corruption, evident since its opening in 2006. There has been so many problems reported since last years anti-government shut down that stranded many at the airport. Do you think this is part of corruption? Have you ever been harassed overseas?

"There has been so many problems reported since last years anti-government shut down that stranded many at the airport." has been repeated twice in the same paragraph.

Once upon a time I was stopped by the immigration officer at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport on my way back to Bangladesh.  The man tried to convince me there were some technical problems with my documents.  Unfortunately for him, I was well acquainted with the aforementioned documents.  After seven minutes and two colleagues telling him to just let me through, he gave up and let me through.

The guy in the next booth just paid off his immigration officer to avoid the hassle all together.
