Have you gotten sick while traveling?
I've gotten sick while abroad before and let me tell you, it wasn't very pleasant. I couldn't hold anything down for 2 days so all I ate was bread and drank gatorade. Have you been sick while abroad? What did you have?

Nopee, never been sickk. i enjoy traveling wayy tooo much XD
i got food poisoning as I was flying to mexcio. Right as my plane landed I threw up all over the place! That was certainly not something i want to remember though. I think I got it when I had a layover in D.C. and ate pizza that had been sitting out all day.
i've been sick when sat at the back of a car, and all i had was water!
i've never been sick on a plane though..
I got sick in Venice and couldn't eat any of the delicious Italian food =(
I always get sick for a day whenever we vacation somewhere. I always wakeup with some sort of symptoms like a headache, being sore, runny nose, coughing, or my asthma starts to act up. It kinda sucks cuz it ALWAYS happens... and then just goes away :(
i got sick after eating a $75 crab in singapore! it was ridiculous. i had to stay in for a day. getting sick while on vacation is the worst because your time is so limited and it's a waste of time sitting in bed.
Aside from the always perfectly timed sinus infections that develop the day before all of my flights...
I once had food poisoning or something in DC that prevented me from meeting up with a Xanga pal. That was unfortunate. :(
And I was also mentally ill while studying abroad in Spain. I was clinically depressed, and, not wanting to undergo therapy through a translator or take pills while away from the constant watch of family, I ended up leaving early and getting counseling at home. At the time, I was a little humiliated, but looking back, I definitely did the right thing.
Being sick in any form while abroad is tricky because of language barriers, distance from friends and family, and lack of comforts. Not to mention of course, insurance issues, getting a good recommendation, etc., so if it gets serious, sometimes, you just have to call off a trip. It sucks, but the good news is, when you're better you can always go back!
I guess in response to jetlag, my body becomes exhausted, my eating patterns are screwed up, thus my stomach hurts randomly, and I get a headache behind my eyes like I haven't slept in days. It's weird. It's not exactly ignorable, but it doesn't kill me either. I just load up of coffee and tea with honey and make sure to have light snacks.
And of course, on roadtrips it's easy to become nauseated if you try to read/write/draw while in the car, kind of like spinning in circles with your eyes closed. =] I just have to watch the buildings go by or listen to music.
Yes, I always get the sneezes! I always bring the allergy pills with me.
We were on a four day excursion to Indonesia. On the third day I woke up with intense stomach pains that turned out to be diarrhea. I was traveling with my family, one member of which was a doctor and two of which were nurses, so I got medication right away but I was also forced to stay in the resort that day. That also happened to be the day when the tour guide took my family to a bird park... I'm still kind of bitter about it, because I love birds and bird photography, and Indonesia has some very rare and beautiful birds.
I've never been sick myself, but my mom is CONSTANTLY sick. As long as we're on a plane, it doesn't fail for her to bring out the barf bag. Ugh.
I have gotten sick in Cambodia. Imagine yourself third world country and you can see your waste coming out of a pipe going into a river..poor grandma's house. Anywho I got sick for a whole week, I was suppose to trek to Vietnam but was unable to. It was one of the worst experiences I had in my life.
1) I had to be rushed to a local clinic on the back of a motorcycle2) Lying at home with an IV in your arm... (does that seem sanitary...)3) Bathroom was my new home for a week4) running a fever and having small options for food5) I was not a happy kid.
Well, I've never gotten sick while on a plane, but did while in Vegas. I wish it had been due to consumption of goods there, but it wasn't. As soon as we got there, my fiance and I got so Ill, we couldn't go anywhere without having to double back to the hotel. It was not the best of times, but we had to make the best of it. We ate a couple buffets but ran straight to the hotel room right after. That's all.
Thank god!!!!
