  • New York: Hideout Of Celebrities

Last night, my wife and I were heading home after attending the John Legend concert (great show by the way). We hopped on the subway, both of us tired from a long day's work. Our stop was a few stops away so my wife rested her eyes while I looked around the subway. The man across from me was reading a newspaper and I tried to glance at what the latest headlines were. We were one stop away when another man approached the man reading the newspaper, said something that I couldn't hear and shook his hand. I didn't think much of it but I peered up at the man reading the newspaper and holy cow, it was Chris Noth aka Mr. Big from Sex and the City! We were sitting across from him this whole time and had no idea.

I thought it was really cool that a celebrity was riding the subway. I've heard of other celebrities, such as Edward Norton (who I would love to meet), stating in interviews that they enjoyed taking the subway but I never knew whether to believe them. The subway is a closed location with no escape if they were suddenly mobbed by fans. Then, it donned on me. New Yorkers generally tend to mind their own business, such as what my wife and I were doing. I would never have noticed if the other man didn't shake Mr. Big's hand. What better way to blend then in a city of millions all in their own little worlds.

My wife and I have seen other celebrities walking amongst us such as Tyson Beckford (the male model) and Gina Gershon (actress) and they perfectly blended in. You would never notice them if you weren't paying attention. Just last month, our friends who visited saw Chris Brown casually doing some shopping in Soho.

So next time you're visiting the Big Apple, be sure to keep your eyes open. You never know who you could be standing next to.

Have you ever seen celebrites in places that you've traveled to?

I know what you mean by them blending in and everything. It's the same way in Nashville with all the big country and Christian music artists. Also in the city just to the south of Nashville, Franklin, where a lot of them live.

Though, I've lived in Tennessee my entire life and never met a celebrity. I've probably seen some, but didn't know who they were. My uncle met Toby Keith at my city's Cracker Barrel.

Lol, it's funny how I live 10 minutes away from NYC... but I haven't been there since like... what, last September? I guess it's true what they say, people take advantage of what's right next to them. I guess it's cuz I've lived here my whole life and have gotten tired of it. People think I'm crazy when I say I have no interest going there. Large crowds, expensive stuff, and me being bad with directions... yeh, not my thing.

I stood behind Tom Cruise and his stepson while he was filming in New Zealand for the Last Samurai...

I saw Wendie Malick in Central Park once. She was jogging, I think. (I had to look up her name cause I only know her as Nina :p)

I walked right by P. Diddy in DC at the inauguration.  The street wasn't crowded at all, but I probably wouldn't have noticed if a woman hadn't shreiked at the sight of him.  I thought somebody'd been shot.  My friend ran after him with his camera phone.

I'm going to be in NYC on Thursday, because I have tickets for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. If I met him, I could die happy. Hahaha

I ran into Aaron Ralston, author of Between a Rock and a Hard Place, buying gas at a station in Glendale, Utah (a wide spot in the road off the 70).  (It's hard for him to blend in with that missing arm.)  I confess, I went right over and chatted him up about life after his traumatic adventure, did he still ride mountain bikes, etc.  He was startled at being recognised but nonetheless cordial.

There are celebrities all over the place in LA too, and they blend in just as well. You just have to pay attention if you want to notice them.

  • StylishMudd@xanga

i saw jerry springer just walking along past W 125th and broadway

  • crazysogul@xanga

I saw lindsay lohan long time back walking along time square district and I was the only person seemingly cared. I instantly turned my body toward my friend and tapped her shoulder, then said "omg omg look lindsay lohan!!!" my friend finished her very last hotdog bite in her mouth and retorted me "so what??!" it was so awkward.

  • ahsolovley@xanga

The Gossip Girl cast film in a hotel that my friend's mom works at. It's actually called the Palace. :P We go there for an annual Christmas party, but I have yet run into Chuck Bass. I recognize all the scenes in Gossip Girl and I get so mad that I always walk by those places but never see them filming! haha

I Really Dont Think Some New Yorkers Care Enough..   Well Atleast While We're Doing Things..  I Think Most Of Us Rush By Too Quickly To Stop,  Take 7 Pictures And Ask For Autographs..  We Have Places To Be,  People To See.  And When I Say People To See,  I Mean The Ones We Know Best..

@Olyachka@xanga - If You Do Actually See Him And Punch Him In The Face,  Would You Mind Hitting Him Once More For Me?   =)

I was actually away on business in Jersey (I'm from NYC,) I was at the bar after a long week of grueling work, at this point I've been at the hotel on business for quite some time, and I knew the bartender, then all of a sudden, the bar gets real crowded. Apparently BB King was playing next door, and Gavin Degraw/Colbie Callait had a concert all in town the same night...

This cute girl walks up to me, and says can I order her a drink, and her friend Gavin Degraw wanted one too (she hands me money, she just couldn't squeeze in to the packed bar I was sitting at to order, not like she was asking em to buy them a drink.) I laugh at this notion (not knowing Gavin/Colbie were in town doing a concert,) order her two drinks anyway just out of being nice, later as the bar clears up, I end up sitting next to Gavin, we start talking, and he goes, "Hi! Nice to meet you! I'm Gavin!" if the girl didn't say anything earlier, I probably wouldn't have noticed in the dark bar lol.

  • Miss_Suejung@xanga

I don't really pay attention to other people. I just go my own way, and mind my own business.
