1,000 Places to See Before You Die
For fans of travel, I've been told this book is a must have: 1,000 Places to See Before You Die: A Traveler's Life List. I've always wanted to own this book, but I've wondered if it's worth buying.
Do you own 1,000 Places to See Before You Die? Have you traveled to any of the places mentioned in the book? Was the book useful for planning when you arrived at your destination?

Never read it.
I'm strictly Canada and weopons are controlled by the police and military here. If you don't feel safe - tell them.
I have it, and it's pretty useful...but I think it's for people who are crazy rich because they list some things that are really expensive (for example, in Chicago, they recommend going to Charlie Trotter's O_O) Other than that, I always consult this book for some ideas on where to go. It's pretty fun.
I have this, and I think it can be pretty useful if you're going to more popular destinations. They spend way more pages on Western Europe and the United States than on anywhere else. It has sections on each individual state (even though there is another book like this that focuses only on the US).
I liked it but I thought it focused too heavily on hotels in which to stay or experience. Although there are certainly some beautiful and unique hotels out there, I don't usually travel to a specific destination in order to experience a particular hotel, however beautiful it may be. For that reason, I found the book limited in its usefulness for me. Nevertheless, I did learn about some interesting places from the book.
