Would You Travel to Iraq or Afghanistan If You Could?
Though American citizens currently are not banned from travel, as of today the U.S. Department of State still warns citizens against traveling anywhere in Iraq and Afghanistan. Have you ever wanted to go to either of these countries? Would you go now if you could?

Being that it isn't exactly safe, I probably wouldn't. I'm sure there are beautiful things to see there in the middle east, but I'm not really interested.
not now..but I'd like to visit there..one day..
I wouldn't mind, but the extra caution would be needed as that we Americans are not welcomed as much as we used to be.
right now ... ?
NO.
maybe in 10 years.
No, or any place the US department warns us against.I'm not about to be a hostage!
I'd love to visit Iraq if the country finally ends all those political upheavals. Iraq has some of the most complex and wonderful historical sites and also the cradle of human civilizations.
some day. i would love to.
No.
not now, but someone when it is safe, I would go.
I would love to go to Iraq and Afghanistan, but it's not safe. If I ever did go there, I'd want to go with some sort of tour group.
No, I had never been to this place but I wanna visit it someday. Can you tell me its most attraction points?
Lord, no.
I've been to Iran and there are a lot of beautiful things to see, but the awfully chauvenist and disrespectul men they have there, and the Sharia laws - especially those against women - make it entirely unworth it. Besides, I'm an apostate from Islam and Islam excecutes it's apostates. So no, I wouldn't travel to any Islamic countries because these particular considerations arise in all of them. Afghan, I hear, is even worse than Iran in that department.
Get rid of the Tliban and then we will talk. They would not like me too much seeing as how I am a bellydancer, and a woman.
Not on my wishlist.
Maybe if they didn't hate Americans so much! ♥
Been to both, would not go back
uh no thank you. not exactly a tourist spot on the map.
Ever since I read Full Tilt - Dunkirk to New Delhi by Bicycle by Dervla Murphy, I have wanted to visit Afghanistan. Her description of the people and the unforgiving terrain was so beautiful. Of course, she is a much more courageous traveler than I will ever be.
@Uek@xanga - why?
@Sarah - Dangerous, a friend by day may well be the guy shooting at you by night. If you want to go somewhere less dangerous I'd recommend Karachi or Dubai(though I've never been to Dubai).
i would go, definitely. maybe not immediately though.
If I went, I'd go to visit the military bases. I'd love to hang out with the soldiers/Marines/Airmen who are over there and actually experience what they go through for myself.
If I were working with the USO, Or on a mission trip surrounded by our soldiers then yes. Id go. Preferably Id like to go to afghanistan, maybe Id run into my husband whose deployed there currently;). But like I said, If I were surrounded by our soldiers or could be gaurenteed safety then yes. Id go.
I really really want to do mission work in Kabul, so YES
