  • Which of Your Hobbies Drive Your Travel Companions Nuts?

Since I was a kid, I have loved baseball.  Though I was raised a Met fan, I have grown to appreciate all kinds of baseball history.  I love to learn about team histories and the unique features of each major league baseball stadium.  My favorite stadium to visit by far is Fenway Park; the history there is just so much fun (sorry, Citi Field!).

Whenever I travel somewhere new, I try to see a game or take a stadium tour of the home team’s ballpark.  I drove my parents crazy two summers ago as we were planning a three-day-long trip to California when I tried to convince them to travel the whole state to see all five of California’s baseball teams: the Angels, the A’s, the Dodgers, the Giants and the Padres.

“All of these stadiums are in the same state we’ll be in, why can’t we see them all?” I whined.

Of course I knew how ridiculous I sounded (there was no way we were going to travel as south as San Diego to as far north as San Francisco and go everywhere in between), but I was determined to see as many stadiums as I could.  My parents compromised by letting me see one game at Dodger Stadium, as we did spend the entirety of our trip in Los Angeles.

In total, I think I’ve only been to about five stadiums: Shea and Citi Field (they can count as one for now), Fenway Park, Tropicana Field, Dodger Stadium and Citizens Bank Park.  I did pass by US Cellular Field once, though, if that counts.

Are you a baseball fan who finds going to all of the different stadiums around the country fun?  Are you a fan of any other sport where you drag your friends and family around to different arenas?  Do you have any other hobbies that require driving your friends and family nuts during travel?

Yes sadly postcards and keyrings (but thankfully no driving) however sometimes I will wonder off own my own if it is near by to buy the postcards or keyrings.

Hi I'm a fan of basketball. Just like you, I've grown to appreciate all types of bball history and am fanatic about sports. I would love to a take stadium tour in LA as I'm a big fan of LA- Lakers. Still, the crux of the problem is MONEY. In 2007, I went to Canada for backpacking and travelling. I played with a streeet team there as well! LUCKY =).

I've been to the Metrodome a.k.a. the Humpty Dump.  Next year the Twins get an outdoor stadium, though.  Tropicana Field--been there and the roof looks weird from the outside, like somebody goofed and it's on crooked.  Cubs are my second fave team (after MN), so Wrigley Field is at the top of my to-see list.

@niceBrice@xanga - Haha, Tropicana field definitely does look weird from the outside, especially as you're driving up the highway next to it.

I have to meet someone new at every trip I take. My family/friends hate it cause they say that it's unnecessary but I'm a social person and I can't stand being with the same people all vacay long (especially when it's people I see at home for free.)
