  • Guinness: Party In Your Mouth In Ireland

Ireland is a beautiful country deeply enriched in culture, which I discovered first hand when I visited recently. The country has it all: gorgeous rolling hills, Guinness, friendly locals, Guinness, luscious green scenery, and did I mention Guinness? Okay, okay Ireland wasn't all about their beer for me but I found myself quite pleased to find that there was some truth to what people told me...Guinness really does taste better in Ireland.

Let me be the first to note that I am a huge beer lover. To me there is nothing better then tossing back a beer on a hot summer day or cracking open a bottle after a long day in the office. However, up until my trip to Ireland, I was never a huge Guinness lover. I didn't despise it. I just never found the urge to order it when I'm out and about in bars. All that changed when I had a sip of "the black stuff" in Dublin, Ireland. It was like a light bulb appeared over my head. Something about it made it taste distinctly better than the Guinness I've tried in the states but I never could put my finger on why that was. Maybe it was because I was so close to the factory where it was brewed. Maybe it was because I was simply in Ireland.

When I returned from my trip, I found myself ordering Guinness a lot more often. It was never the same but I did grow a new appreciation for the Irish stout. Now when I take a sip of my pint, I'm reminded of gorgeous rolling hills, friendly locals, and luscious green scenery.

Have you ever tried Guinness in Ireland? What foods or drink have you had that tasted better in another country?

I've never been to Ireland, but I have had a Guinness and it was TERRIBLE!  2 things contribute to that though.  1. I don't really like beer aaannd 2. I've never been to Ireland, but we've already covered that.

The first (and last) time I had Guinness was in the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin. I don't like beer at all, but strangely I found Guinness slightly better than any other beer I've ever had (may have been because I was in THE Guinness Storehouse and felt obligated, lol). I still didn't like it much though. I'll stick with Rum and Coke thanks.

Guinness is the only beer I even remotely like, and I have indeed had it in Dublin, just down the street from the brewery at a fantastic pub named Fitzgeralds (I think...or Fitzsomethingorother...).  GREAT stew there...anyway...

The pasta in Italy is better.  Pizza...not so much.  But the pasta, OHHHHH the pasta...and don't even get me started on the gelato...*drool*

@ashiri7016@xanga - haha, that's exactly like me.  I don't drink much at all, but if I do, rum and coke is good enough.

Best post ever!!! Real Guinness tastes far better than the Canadian stuff they serve us here in the States. I drink the Stout over the Draught here any day - unless its the real draught from Ireland.

This definitely brought me back to my trip to Ireland just a few weeks ago. Oh how I miss drinking Guinness at a local pub in Ireland. *sigh* Brings back memories of lovely Ireland. =)

Dog tastes really good in Mexico.

Guinness really is amazing in Ireland.  I was there over the spring and I liked Guiness before but it tasted a hell of a lot better in Ireland.

Bananas taste better to me in Peru, and there are just different fruits there that I can't find here in the United States.  I love passion fruit and used to eat it all the time in Peru, but I've never seen it here in the U.S.
