Every time a new Harry Potter movie comes out, my friends and I (who live outside the city) go into Manhattan to see the show. The theaters around where we live are pretty crummy; the floors are always sticky, the seats are stiff, the lobbies are small and the screen quality isn’t very good. Plus, there’s no stadium seating, which means you really have to pray no one at all sits in front of you.
I don’t mind going to theaters around my town to see most movies, but when it comes to features like Harry Potter, making the trip to a nice theater is completely worth it (and, in my opinion, completely necessary). Last night,
I saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at the Regal Theater in Times Square. The place was packed, but my friends and I got good seats and the theater was really nice. The best part was not having to worry for a minute about my view being blocked by someone in front of me. Multiple viewing floors, concession stands with real food and cool window views of Times Square are just bonuses for making the trip.
Do you ever travel out of your way to see big movies you’re excited for? Have you seen Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince? Where did you go to see it?

We go to our local cinema/theater when we want to see a movie, the last ones I went to see were The Simpsons the movie and Charlie and the Chocolate
When we went to see Mr Bean Holiday that night there were only about six in this scene.
I have not seen the new Harry Potter film,
I went to the AMC Imax yesterday in nyc to see it~ ^o^
Only for Harry Potter though...
Ah well... All the theaters I go to are pretty nice save for one. I guess this isn't a sorry for me.
We just went to the local mall for the midnight showing of Harry Potter. They have IMAX screens and stadium seating (I think), though,so it was great.
saw Harry Potter at midnight! we stayed pretty local, which was fine. the theater has this really lame stadium-like seating (i.e. the floor is slanted about a micrometer), but short people sat in front of my friends and i so it worked out. :D
If I wanted to I could make the 20min drive to Hollywood to pay $20 to see it at the ArcLight. So nice. But I several pretty nice AMC's to choose from in my area so I will end up going there.
I go to downtown to see most movies. About half an hour bus ride ?
But, if I'm going with people that are driving, we go to movie theatres with parking lots. It's not really that far, but it's into the next city.
The nearest theater to me is ten minutes away =D PLUS its right by the waterfront, so yaaay =D
I haven't seen Harry Potter yet, but I'm going next week with my friendss.
hmmm. it wasn't really out of my way, but i like seeing movies at bigger more upgraded movie theaters that have shops and restaurants nearby haha. i went to watch it at a theater that's like 20-30minutes away. i liked it, but eh. i haven't seen the two movies before it. so total fail haha.
If it's nearby, I'll go- but I prefer a theater that has a gamestop or geek-store next to it, so I can browse.... "Oh, look- I just found the complete series of Elfen Series... uncut. He he he he...."
i am going to see it sunday...maybe down the street!
i would definitely travel anywhere as long as i can watch harry potter on the first day :) but i guess i'm pretty lucky, i live in the city, where great theaters are almost everywhere.
as for the movie, i took the afternoon off from work, and walked happily to the mall. :)
