A lot of my friends are, I guess, what you could consider geeks. They aren't the kind of math whizzes with their glasses taped together, but they are the kind who obsess over new video game releases and movies like Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. If you consider yourself a geek in any way, then I may have found just the thing for you this summer.
Here, you can find a slideshow of the "11 Summer Vacation Ideas for Geeks." The list includes excursions to events like the Space Academy for Adults, the Vintage Computer Festival and Lord of the Rings Movie Tours in New Zealand. And, if you are anywhere near as devout a Star Trek fan as this guy pictured above, the Offical Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas is a must.
Would you ever travel for any of these events? What about for another convention that particularly interested you?

First of all before I read and comment, that is a fucking awesome tattoo. EEE!!!!
I would DEFINITELY hit up Otakon or something, you know, if I had money.
Okay, I probably wouldn't ever go to a convention, but I love watching the shows :)
I would totally go if I had the monies. I'm such a nerd, and I heart Star Trek.
Where would our pop culture be without an ideal for the future. Star Trek and Gene Roddenberry have placed on our screens the concepts, the ideals and the conflicts forthcoming. How we reach that future will depend on how well those creative concepts sink into the minds of governments and the people who elect them to lead. The biggest hurdle will be the space between the stars. Too bad we cannot teleport ourselves like a fax or email from destination to destination. Until then where is my WAP ( wireless application protocol ) device - also inspired by the show.
Amazing tat! I have not been to a convetion, though it sounds fun, something to do at least once. I have been to the hotel in Vegas with the Star Trek theme, awesome. It was fun to visit, I recommend it to all. Is it The Hilton hotel with the theme?
@emily_shannon@xanga - Try to save up for the pre-registration money for next year. It's loads of fun, and just good times all around. This year's will be my 6th in a row.
