  • Are Rental Car Price Surges Affecting You?

I go to school in Florida, and once in a while my family will come down to visit me.  The last trip they made, in March, my dad mentioned how expensive renting a car had become.  Everything else about travel seemed to be going down (hotels, airfare) but rental car prices were going up.

I thought maybe the surge in price would be temporary or that my dad just hadn’t found any good deals that trip. Then, I came across this article.  Evidently, there is a real reason why rental cars are suddenly becoming so expensive.  Fortunately though, the article also offers tips on how to find the best deals for rental cars.

How often do you rent cars on your trips? Have you noticed the price increase? Do you have any tips for finding good deals?

My dad rented a car when he, my mom and sister came over to visit me at school. I've never rented a car because the minimum age to rent in Rhode Island is 25. Sadly, that's 3 years away. However, I think a tip would be that its expensive to get a car equipped with a GPS, so get your own. Cheaper and you'd get more usage out of it anyway :)

rhode island is not the only state in which the age restriction for renting a car is 25 and up. my family circumvents the hassle of renting a car, though, by making sure to go to vacation spots where there is family around and they drive us around =P doesn't always work out but it's fun when it does!

i don't always get a rental but when i do get it when i'm on vacation, the company that i work for has a really great deal with enterprise rentacar so i don't ever have to worry about paying too much for a rental car.
