Is Anything Haunted in Your Neighborhood?
In high school, my friends and I used to hang out in this abandoned, weed-filled lot in my town that is considered haunted. One night, some of the same friends went to check out an old, run-down psychiatric center that is also supposedly haunted. Though the lot usually didn't scare them, I think they were pretty freaked out about the psychiatric center, even if they won't admit it. Are there any haunted houses or unusual places in your neighborhood? Do you ever hang out in any of these places?

i hope not!
None what I know of.
nope ^^ (not that i think so)
No but I would some to be ;)
My previous house was haunted. It was on an Air Force base in between two dry lake beds..Before it was a base it was where Spanish colonists lived (convenient for the lakes). I've only seen 2 ghosts/spirits. And my sister has seen the same little kid I did. The little kid used to play with our toys. And peak around my sister's doorway to play with her. We both remember hearing voices talking at night.
Where I live I've heard many tales of ghost/strange happenings in a very old college. I dunno
Actually I just bloged about our current haunting in my house.
There is actually a house in my neighborhood that no one has lived in for dechades. Teens in my neighbor hood say they have been inside, and heard voices. And, there is one person i see go in without a car, and always seems to ware pale white shirts. Could this be a ghost?
@rhea@lovelyish - ooh, thats scary, did your parents know/concerned about it?
suprgamefrk@xanga - Our parents didn't really believe it. They never saw anything like me and my sister did. I've been wanting to go back and see if the current occupants had any experiences.
@rhea@lovelyish - I bet those ghost kids miss you guys...
My house is haunted by a grandmotherly old woman and a little girl. There not pests or anything. Simply there.
The old woman mostly hovers and can be felt or briefly glimpsed that way. She's fascinated with my computer. Unfortunately, she was a smoker who died of lung cancer and her breath is smoky, a little annoying to me since I'm a non-smoker, no one smokes in my house, and we went to some pains to remove all traces of nicotine in it before moving in. She doesn't communicate with us much at all except to insist we call her "Grandmother" if we call her anything at all. She won't give her proper name but it wasn't difficult finding out who she was anyhow: she was the previous owner's mother.
The little girl is named Marie who went to a local school for brainiac kids called Brighton. She died at age 6 in 1986 when her father accidentally backed over her while she was playing in the driveway. For her, it's still 1986 and she doesn't seem to know that she's dead; only that she got hurt and her family went away. She accepts us as her substitute family. She's very talkitive, being very willing to communicate via my pendulum board or even the simple pendulum, no matter how arduous an effort it must be. She once spelled out "mathematics" to me when I asked what her favorite subject in school was. Another time, she surprised us by accurately prediciting the unlikely outcome of a football game when my step son had simply asked her half-jokingly. She's visited both my son and daughter in dream and has played with the toys - or at least moved them to other places - and has chewed their pencils then worried afterwards that they might be mad at her for it.
Nothing dramatic.
Wish you'd been more detailed about what happened to your friends in the psychiatric hospital. Are you trying to drive me crazy by telling just a tantalizing bit of it and then nothing more? You're such a tease!
@suprgamefrk@xanga - Maybe.. I know the people that current live in our old house have young children. :)
back where I grew up in MI there were many places! and lots of people admitted it
@rhea@lovelyish - Well that is good for the ghosts
@rhea@lovelyish - lol, but not the kids, they are probably trmatized
Apparently but it's not an attraction or anything, and I doubt it's actually haunted. I'd go up there if it wasn't private property being constructed. :/
@Ampbreia@xanga - does it not make you self-conscious sometimes, that you cant dance silly in front of the mirror without the feeling that you might be watched?
@datchgym@xanga - No. I'm not self-concious about my dancing. I'm a reasonably good belly dancer with a goal to get better and have to practice in front of the mirror to see that I'm doing the various movements right. Otherwise... probably still no. I really don't think much about being watched. Do you?
@Ampbreia@xanga - well, i like my privacy, i must say, but if these ghosts are friendly, im sure they'll know when to give me some. having said that, even if they did catch me dancing silly in the mirror- i dont dance as well as most -i would take it lightly. They are friends, they know what it's like to be human, they know that they are watching and they know that everyone needs some silly-time. from your descriptions, i'd take them to be something of a comforting presence. they're close enough like family, and yet because they arent real and wouldnt taunt me about it, i wouldnt have to endure the embarrassment of being silly in front of my family.
Not far from my neighborhood there are a few abandoned buildings of an old psychiatric hospital that are still standing and said to be haunted. It was closed down in the 70's and most of the buildings were knocked down to build a retirement community. The hospital was called Byberry. The buildings were/are so old the community was concerned about asbestos before they were knocked down. I've never ventured to Byberry myself but I've seen pictures and have heard stories of people hearing voices, seeing figures, hearing the buzz of electricity from machines. That is enough to keep me away.
OMG! you guys (Ampbreia and rhea) are really expediences this? OMG! If I were one of you I'll probably experiencing a coma right now. OMG! That's really scary!
