  • FOUND

Have you ever walked along a sidewalk, looked down, and seen a scrap of paper covered in handwriting? Maybe you didn’t notice it.  Another person, however, may have bent down to pick it up, in the hobby of keeping an eye out for exactly these kinds of things.

Foundmagazine.com is a website that allows users to scan and publish their “FOUND” items on its website. The site collects all kinds of FOUND stuff, including anything from love letters and cards to lists and doodles.

The idea for the site started after one night when a guy went to his car and saw a note under his windshield wipers intended for someone else. The note said things like “I hate you,” and “why’s your car at HER place,” and, at the end, “page me later.”

FOUND Magazine says the note was so angry and hopeful at the same time that they were fascinated and tried to show it to as many people as they could. When they did, the people they showed it to each had something else to share in turn, and the members of FOUND realized they weren’t the only ones with an attraction to picked-up objects.  Thus began the website (and magazine which features best FOUND objects), established to “showcase for all the strange, hilarious and heartbreaking things people’ve picked up.”

To see some great discoveries, go onto Foundmagazine.com and click on “finds.”  Here you can take quick looks at drawings, post-it notes, pictures and more and find out how they were discovered.  Underneath each image, you can also post comments.

Have you ever stumbled upon a great find?  What was it?
