  • I'm a Sucker for Traveling Shows that Involve Food

What Travel Shows Do You Watch?

Do you watch the Travel Channel?  What are your favorite travel shows?

I'm a big fan of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. He is really down to earth, honest, and personable (or so it seems on the show). He is also funny and sarcastic. I like that he mixes with the local people and tries both the cuisine and the activities of the places he's visiting. The first time I watched the show, I expected not to like it but the guy makes no excuses for who he is and what he does for a living, which by the way, seems like an AMAZING job! I also like how he tours cities and regions in the U.S. as well.

Alternatively, I really do not like the Bizarre Foods show. Maybe I'm a wimp or maybe I just don't like the host, Andrew Zimmern, but watching that guy  eat octopus hearts or frog brains really turns my stomach and the channel! I don't think he is very engaging or charismatic either. I am also not fond of Samantha Brown, but this has no basis as I have never seen her show. However, just seeing her commercials and print ads is enough to make me not want to watch. Is there anything I'm missing by not watching?

My boyfriend has recently taken to watching Dhani Tackles the Globe, a show where NFL linebacker Dhani Jones travels the world attempting different native sports. It seems like an interesting concept, and I do believe I will give that show a gander.

What are the aspects of travel shows that you enjoy? I like when the hosts show me a location and things to do there that I can envision myself trying. What makes a show really annoy you?

I don't mind the show Bizarre Foods. My dad got me to watch this to show me what I should experience eating in different countries.

There many show you can choose in travel and living, I love food but there are some I don't like also. One of my favorite food is Spanish Tapas. Tapas define a Spanish lifestyle it is a food that you tend to serve for good talk and great company. It is the wine, food and tapa that makes a Spanish lifestyle so gallant and relax. Eating tapa after an excursion or a museum visit is one good way to end the day’s activity and to start the night’s next pursuit. Barcelona like the rest of the Spanish cities and town just got hit by the tapa fever. There is nothing more Spanish than tapas. Though, tapas in Barcelona have just been around in the 90s; the town has adapted such gastronomic delight which such wildfire abandonment that tapa bars popped up like mushrooms in Barcelona. If one wants to travel to Spain, you can stay at cheap Barcelona hotels or at a vacation home. Either way, visitors experience a very relaxing kind of vacation here in Spain.

The best thing is, many country produce their own for their English language television. Most place I have traveled, I have seen shows about that country.

I do adore the Travel channel, too.

I watch most of the food shows on the Travel Channel. They're all so different from each other that it's hard not to like them for different reasons. Though, my favorite would be Zimmern's show. I just WISH I got paid to travel around the world and eat weird stuff!
