Sorry Gentlemen, This Club is For the Ladies!
Imagine going into a club where you would lay down thousands of dollars to spend some "quality time" and occasionally "alone time" with an attractive person. Now picture that this attractive person is a guy and the person putting out all this cash is a girl and there is rarely anything physical involved. Doubtful that this actually happens? Well it does...in Osaka, Japan.
If you were to travel to Osaka, you would find clubs there called host clubs where men would get paid to provide emotional attention to women. Yup, these guys would get paid a few thousand U.S. dollars a night to talk, listen, flirt, understand, and provide companionship to these women. Essentially, these "hosts" are selling a fantasy that that they would be together and in love one day and these women fall for it hook, line and sinker.
What's sad is that some of these girls know that the fantasy that is being sold to them is an act but they still continue to empty out their wallets anyway. A few of these girls have husbands and boyfriends but still pay because they enjoy the attention and emotional connections they feel with these hosts. Some even turn to prostitution so that they can afford this lifestyle. If you're interested in learning more about this, there is a documentary called The Great Happiness Space.
Would you pay someone for emotional attention? Would host clubs be successful in your country?

Nope. I wouldn't pay any kind of intimacy.
A few THOUSAND dollars??? Oh, heck no. I'll let a dog travel with me for all of that! If it's a small dog, I might have to pay for his seat, but that's gotta be WAY cheaper than a few thousand dollars for a live fantasy... and the dog will honestly care about you!

But in all seriousness, that's rather depressing, that women have to resort to such measures just to feel loved. As a guy, and as a friend, I try my best to make all of my friends know they have someone to provide the above-mentioned services with no need for reimbursement.

this is not a best way asking for more emotional attention. money spent and have got nothing.
What's so sad about this? It's the same as getting a call girl.

Well you need to understand more about the culture of Japan... Why a lot of Asian people want to have a Japanese girl as a girlfriend or wife? The reason is that when a Jap girl becomes a guy's girlfriend/wife. She will almost never complain on the guy. Any action done, words said by the guy will not be challenged by the girl, even though if she does not agree with it. A lot of Japanese girls suppress their feelings in their heart. Where can they express that? This is why these clubs exist...

Why go out of the country when you can find a few places like that here in the states for men and women. What a waste of money. Just find the right one to be with, and the rest is free. Right?
I can understand how that happens... face it, sometimes even when guys & girls are in relationships.... how many times do you hear : I wish my signif other would just listen or pay attention to ME...
It's not that Crazy, if you think about what drives these women to spend all that money, even if its just a fantasy, for 1 evening.

that happens a lot. they have them here in the U.S., too under disguised as low-end bars that no one frequents. they also have room salons, which is pretty much the same thing except catered to men. and it's frequent in Korean culture, too.

...wow...This by far, could easily be the biggest money maker in the US, if ever to become a service in the US (If it was cheaper too...just saw a comment, needs to be bigger in US xD).
I'm having trouble understanding the comments...(ignoring the money), with how people live, people spend thousands of dollars for coping mechanism just to get some shape/form of happiest in life. (Note: Psychiatry isn't exactly cheap, & you get the additions of human emotions, instead of someone that seems slightly cynical...but this is just me).
Edit: People are just desperate for happiness, and for some, happiness doesn't have a price..even if its for one moment that is fake.
It's true. there's people who would pay LARGE amounts of money for something really silly. it's men too! you'd be surprised what people would do or want. there's crazy people out there!

If it was cheap I would go. Knowing it was an act, it would make it easier for me to talk about my emotions and whatnot. I dunno if it would work in the US, if not only because our culture doesn't seem to appreciate the boundary that would require. I could see it ruining a lot of marriages.

I think its good that they have these things in Japan. They may be expensive but atleast its something to them.
I've heard of such services, it's not only in Japan, I think there are some in China. I wouldn't pay for it because there are too many guys, chances of me finding another guy to give me emotional, physical support is easy.
