The Great Let Down - Disappointing Trips
Have you ever had your hopes up, your sights set, and camera ready only to be let down? Sometimes so much anticipation and planning goes into our adventures that by the time we arrive and see what there is to see, our inside thought bubble says, "Huh...so this is it...well that was a big waste of time." It's like Christmas morning when all you asked for was a Barbie dream house and all you get is a My Little Pony. One of the biggest disappointments of my life was Disney World. I know, I know...what kind of heartless, soulless, coal in the stocking Grinch is let down my Disney World? In my defense, I didn't get to go to Disney World until I was 18. At this stage in my life, my Disney days had sailed-I no longer watched my Little Mermaid tape daily or believed in Santa. So when I arrived in the Magic Kingdom, I thought, "Well...this is it...this is what makes children have seizures and parents go broke...not so impressed." I was older, and more craving thrill rides and adventure than make-believe and princesses. I did like MGM because of the rides, and Animal Kingdom was great because I'm an animal lover, but Magic Kingdom? Not so magical in my book.
Another "big whoop" in my travels was the Grand Canyon. We went in the middle of winter so it was freezing and just drove around for five hours. I mean
there's only so many angles you can see a big hole in the ground from your car. We would park, run to the side of the overlook, take a picture, and run back to the car to warm up. Now I think that the Grand Canyon has potential, and I want to go back, but actually do something to experience it, like hiking or rafting. Have you ever been really excited for something only to be let down? How did this destination not meet or exceed your expectations?

The weather was awful, the place we were staying at was stupid & unhygienic, AND I WAS SICK FOR HALF THE TRIP!
Yeh one of the worst trips ever.
I was at the grand canyon in April. It was about 75 degrees and sunny, so that was perfect. We took a helicopter ride into the middle, ate lunch, drank champagne, then flew back to Vegas. Amazing!
I've not been to Disney since I was 10 but I'm going again next month, and I'm more excited than I was aged 10! Sad but true!! haha
i was disappointed when i saw the alhambra in granada, spain. not only is it the most famous work of islamic architecture in spain, my friends who saw it before me kept raving about it. perhaps my expectations were too high, but when i got there, i wasn't blown away. in fact, i was thinking, "what? this is it???"
I always feel like a bad person when I'm not impressed by something that everyone else has raved about...or I'm thinking what's wrong with me??? hahaha
Yes, Las Vegas. Let's just say a family trip there is not the same haha. I really need to go back with some friends, minus the baby brother I had to babysit the last time.
Paris, the Eiffel Tower. My friends who went on the Europe Trip (school trip) that went to the Eiffel Tower said that it wasnt THAT nice because when you're standing beneath it, there's so many stands and it's just not as attractive.
hershey park, pa. it was boring.
I've never been to Disney World, but I dont really want to anymore because I like rollercoasters and I'm not into disney stuff like I was when I was 7. thats still cool you got to go, though.
The first time I went to Disney World I was in sixth grade and I have been four times since. Each time I get slightly more excited than the last. It bums me out that you weren't impressed by it :(
