My Best Event Ever - The Pinkpop Festival in the Netherlands!
The Festival is called Pinkpop. According to the Guinness Book of Records, this is the oldest annual festival in the world!Every year it is held during Pentecost weekend. Pinkpop has grown to one of the biggest festivals in the Netherlands. Around 60,000 people visit this 3 day event everyday, every year it is getting bigger and bigger!
I went to Pinkpop with four of my best friends. We traveled to the festival by train and later on by bus and of course we brought way too many things.
Festival Day 1:
Day one the festival started on Saturday and we saw: Stevie Ann, then my Saturday best; C-mon and Kypsky, the Noisettes, Good Charlotte, Goose, Juliette and the Licks and with a spectacular show Marilyn Manson. When Mr. Manson started to play for some reason a thunderstorm started which could not be better timed!
When we came back from the Marilyn Manson concert we found out our tent was standing in a little lake, very nice! All of our things were wet so we decided to drink some more beers and try to sleep on our wet sleeping bags. Well lets put it this way we slept for 3 hours.
Festival Day 2:
Sunday, we saw a great performance from Muse! After that, crazy Iggy and The Stooges, Razorlight, Paolo Nutini, the Gypsies; Gogol Bordello, Amy Winehouse, and an awesome gig from Maximo Park.
Overall a really nice day with fantastic performances.
Festival Day 3:
Tired but still going strong. Day 3 started off with gigs from: Maria Mena... very nice to wake up to. Then Five o’clock Heroes followed by, the Kooks, 30 Seconds to Mars, and a great show from Korn, The Fratellis, and a nice one from Linkin Park, the Artic Monkeys and last but not least The Smashing Pumpkins. The whole festival was a amazing experience for me and I really want to visit more festivals all over the world.
Have you ever been to a festival? Which one? Which event should I go next?

well a festival is a festival right it does not really Mather how many "big" bands will show up it just have to be more bands and more days so it is a festival!!! P.O.D is a Cristian band or am i wrong I used to like them a lot :P

To Which festivals did you go to so far if I may ask ?
any one I really should go to?
@dutchstudent@xanga - yeah i suppose so xD. POD, yeah they are a christian band..i dont really like them though hahah.
But i find it cool that a mainstream band like that became popular among non christians :)...but..they have disappeared...so i think they split up now right?

me too , but I liked almost all bands I saw during this weekend. Thats why I like festivals i like a lot of different types of music.
the pentecost is also known as Easter right? where is held this time?
The Falls Festival.
It is held in TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA.
i went lastyear and it was no doubt the best experience of my life!
It is a 3 day festival held from December 29-January1st.
It is absolutely amazing.
It included bands such as Faker, Soko, Architecture in Helsinki, Tegan and Sara, A-Trak, Gomez, The Hives, Mystery Jets, Cat Empire and so many more great bands.
The atmosphere is absolutely unforgettable, everyone is so happy and nobody is there to be angry and pick fights. Everyone is there for two reasons:
1- Mosh for hours on end to the most incredible bands
2- Have the time of your life.
I urge anyone who comes to Australia to not miss this.
