My Internship at the Kansas City Public Library
My graphic design internship is at the Kansas City Public Library located in the heart of downtown in a historic former bank building. Marble interiors. Original woodwork. Intricate ceiling designs. Fun offices. Comfortable lighting. A superb cafe. Amazing art work. etc. I am completely honored to have a wonderful position where I can learn so much from a team of terrific designers. The perk is, of course, working in such a gorgeous building.
Outside at 10th & Baltimore.
Main Hall. This was the ceiling in the room that I had my interview in.
One of the treasures of this building! The former bank vault which they have turned into the "film vault"... complete with film noir collections and red velvet theatre seating in front of a big screen.
Currently, they have a Alfred Hitchcock series. Brilliant atmosphere.Have you been to any interesting buildings? Where?

uh... i basically love kansas city <3
that's my home!
Wow, that's really nice. I probably can't even read a book in there because it's so mesmerizing. Maybe I should've studied there during college then I'd use that excuse for not studying.
This is beautiful!!!
It's a good library. It's a shame they get all huffy if you try to take in the local barbecue for some reason, though...
@JadedJanissary@xanga - Haha! do they now?
@londonsgirl@xanga - oh yeah. They say it makes the homeless guys restless, and the librarians jealous. Also, something about "public property," "incredibly expensive to replace," - i dunno - i wasn't really listening much.
Woooow...I would love to work in a building like that!
