Did You Participate in Earth Hour 2009?
This past Saturday, March 28, 2009, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. local time, 88 countries and more than 4,000 cities turned off all non-essential lighting. This was the third year that this was done with the first year being in Sydney and more cities joining in the following year. The event is organized by the World Wildlife Fund.
Check out these pictures of cities before and during Earth Hour:
My roommates and I joined in this year by turning off all of the lights in our apartment, except for what we needed so we wouldn't walk into things. One of my roommates sat in her room in complete darkness!
Check out Boston.com for some more cool pictures of before and after pictures of major landmarks all over the world.
Did you participate in Earth Hour 2009?
