QOTD: Would You Go on a Homestay in India?
The New York Times recently posted a story about an expanding homestay project run by the Indian Ministry of Tourism. Thus far, the project has been highly successful. Participating families have really added their own touch, welcoming tourists and showing them the "Real India," outside of the booming cities and tourist traps. This is a trend that has been popular all over the world as well, and there are some amazing places you can go with these types of accommodations.
Would you ever consider a homestay in India? Have you ever done a homestay before? What was your experience?

heck, i'd consider anything anywhere. so, why yes, yes i would.
i guess i kinnnda have, by way of couch surfing (couchsurfing.com). and i just got back from a month of living on someones couch in brooklyn, and am about to go live in a community house by skid row in l.a. for about a month sooo i suppose that's sorta similar, only without the title.
YES! Yes! and yes!
I have been to several countries and stayed in private homes. I love traveling that way. You do have to be a go with the flow type person to truly enjoy it though. I am dying to go to India, and I think a homestay would be wonderful. I hate the American hotel, tour bus style of travel.
That sounds like fun.
I would DEFINITELY do something like this. I would love it!
No thank you.
I'd love doing something like that. Learning about a culture first hand is a privilage.
I've never done a homestay before (and never left North America either), but my friends who have said it was an awesome experience. Plus, I would love to visit India!
That sounds awesome! I would be interested in doing that.
