  • Being in Four Places At Once

Have you ever wanted to be in 2 places at once? How about 4?

I got the idea when I watched the movie "A Walk To Remember." When the main character mentioned to her boyfriend that one of the things she wanted to do before she died was to be in 2 places at once, he set out to make this happen.

He had the brilliant idea of taking her to a state border line and had her stand, straddling two states at once, thus she was able to be in 2 places at once.

I'd heard about the Four Corners from a teacher and decided I wanted to go. The Four Corners is a point where four states meet, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico.

From California, my best friend and I drove for roughly 12 hours until we reached our destination. I couldn't exactly mapquest it because this location has no address, but we headed out anyway, following the freeways leading there. Once we got near, there were plenty of signs leading us to the right spot.

And when we got there, all that was there was a platform indicating the corners of each state. There were no restaurants, stores, hotels, or anything else for that matter-- just this platform and some porta potties. I guess it didn't seem too impressive for a 12 hour drive, but we did make it and we were able to say we were in 4 states at once. It was still a good trip none the less and we also caught the sunset of the Grand Canyon on our way back. Overall it was a great trip!

Would you like to visit this spot? Have you driven for a long period of time to get somewhere?

I've been to so many amazing places, but if I absolutely had to pick, I'd settle on a couple places to shorten the list. Madrid, Spain because that's where I did my study abroad program when I was 18 and it was there that the travel bug bit me so hard it left a scar. I haven't been the same since. And Vietnam. That's where my family is from. Although, I'm Vietnamese American, I never actually visited Vietnam until I was 26. It was an awesome experience to learn about my family's history and I was quite pleased to show off my vietnamese language skills to the locals. It's quite a big deal for an american-born.
