Voice For the Voiceless - Saving Abused and Battered Women in Thailand
27 Million people are enslaved today.
Modern day slavery known as human trafficking is the recruitment, transfer or harboring by the means of coercion, force, manipulation and fraud for the purpose of sexual exploitation and forced labor.
In June of 2009, we will venture to Thailand in hopes to gain a better understanding of human trafficking and the sexual exploitation that occurs there. We have partnered with the Tamar Center, Thai Totes in Pattaya and Nightlight in Bangkok. We will volunteer to teach English to victims of human trafficking, reach out to women forced into prostitution and interview current staff about the issues they are facing. The research, the stories, and the experience will be used to inform you and others of how we can all join together to help these victims of human trafficking.
We are two voices in the midst of 6.7 billion others. In a world where good and evil battle we long and desire to see good prevail. The enslaved, the coerced, the trafficked, the manipulated, have no voice of their own, but now they have ours. Partner with us as we become a "voice for the voiceless."

Thanks for the support guys! Please subscribe to our blog (http://www.xanga.com/voiceforthevoiceless) and continue checking in on us as we prepare for our trip! In a couple of weeks, Laura and I will be interviewing graduate students and professors at UC Berkeley about human trafficking/prostitution issues in Thailand. During our trip, we will blog every day to share our experiences and stories with you. Thanks! --Sandy
somebody needs to teach thai women or all women for that matter tae kwon do, karate, sumo wrestling, fencing, knife fighting and ju jitsu *lol* so they could protect themselves. women are not fragile.
Thank you everyone for responding. It is really great of you!
We are so excited to be apart of helping these woman. We are not the solution but a piece of it and we ask that you think about how you can be involved also.
These people have a voice inside of them and in other circumstances I have no doubt that they would use it but we are here to help them get to a place that they can.
