Help! Need Cheap Accommodation in NYC
Guest post by somethingbluee

I'm planning to go backpacking with some friends to New York City soon. We found cheap flight tickets and now are looking for place to stay.
We are looking for an inexpensive and decent place to stay for 3 nights. Our maximum budget is $100/night.
Can anyone give us some suggestions?

They have pretty good deals.
i would find a friend to stay with, cheapest of all! or stay in nj and just commute to ny during the day

everyone here is giving you great advice. hostels are also another option that i tend to use. =)
I think you would need to go out of the city (Manhattan) and go somewhere like Queens/Brooklyn. Then look for motels like Holiday Inn, Days Inn.. I think they run for about $70 a night
Would you consider motels at that rate? I think hostels are the better option but I've never tried them.
Maybe look for a hostel. It's really cheap but I think you have to make your own food. I know they have one here in chicago and it was really nice. Right in the heart of the loop.
couchsurfing!
What a coincidence, I just booked a hotel room for 100 bucks a night at Mayfair NY Hotel. It's right next to Time Square, so very good location. Search orbitz.com for it!
I want to say...there was a hotel right close to Times Square named the Portland or something. *shrug* It was cheap and the rooms were so-so. It was close to everything though!
i think the NJ option works nicely.. how do you search for hostels in the US?
@anne - how do you look for hostels?
@Tokimon@xanga - Hi. Check out www.hostels.com.
@Tokimon@xanga - Here are some hostels you can check out. The average cost for a bed in a dorm room is about $30, but you can also get a private room with a friend if you'd like.
Hosteling International has some of the best hostels I've stayed in: Hostelling International New York
This one is located right in Times Square so your commute won't take too long: 311 Time Square Hostel
This is another hostel located in Times Square: 320 Times Square Hostel
There are lots more. Good luck!
@anne - thank you!
