  • Journey to Alishan in Taiwan

    Guest post by icapillas

A visit to Alishan is a must if you happen to be in Taiwan. Located at Chiayi county, it is a mountain resort (average height of Alishan Mountain Range: 2,500 meters), one of the most famous tourist spots & important landmarks in the country known for it's beautiful sunrise, breath-taking sea of clouds, forest trees, tea plantation, and yes, the famous railway.

Another major attraction is it's cherry blossoms, which is most abundant during mid-March.  Last Sunday, we had a trip there & the weather was sunny & cooler as we approach the mountains. Our hopeful wish to view the cherry blossoms was not granted however, since these flowers are very scarce and are still budding during this time of the year.

    Enjoy the photos!

Here's Candy & my Nicole striking a pose on the way to Alishan.

Notice the few budding cherry blossoms & the clear blue sky found along the way.

Every one gets excited when able to catch a glimpse of the famous Alishan train.

We reach our destination by almost noon time. So, we stopped by a small restaurant to fill our grumbling stomachs first before we continue our journey. The food was plain & so so, not really worth mentioning, but the mountain cabbage & bamboo shoots to your right taste good.

Posing outside Hi-Life convenience store, the highest in Taiwan, 2,200 meters above sea level.

After lunch, our mountain hiking begins...

Old tree stump shaped like a pig. Notice the ear & nose?

The 3 cypress trees look very much alike, thus, named "Three Brothers"

Heart-shaped bark, a favorite shooting spot for lovers.

    Sweet-smelling magnolias

Has anyone ever been to Taiwan?
