My Friend's $25 Hair Gel - Lost in New York City
Guest post by Paul Lim

A friend and I decided to take a trip to New York City.
My friend, forgetting that items such as hair gel cannot be brought on a plane unless it's under 3 oz, packed in a brand new expensive $25 bottle of gel in his luggage.
Well, this bottle had to be disposed of, of course. Luckily, we happened to pass by a store that carried this particular brand of gel for $30. I don't think I'd notice if his hair was any different with a $3 bottle, but that's him. A moment of triumph, nonetheless for him.
However, it was our first day in New York and we'd been walking around for hours after just getting off the flight. We took a taxi to our hotel and we had passed out while driving there. We finally arrived, and paid the taxi driver.
That night, we were getting ready for an event, but my friend couldn't find his $30 bottle of gel. It just so happened that he had left it behind in the taxi. New York was deprived of seeing my friend's perfect hair for the trip.
Do you ever bring any expensive items on a trip?

Aww, poor guy!
Yes I do and this post reminds me to check the rules for my next trip. Thanks!
Hahaha...that sucks. I don't generally bring more expensive items than I have to --for example, I'll maybe bring an expensive dress if there's an event I need it for, but otherwise, I avoid it.
I hear they may change the rules soon so that we can bring liquids back on--I sure hope so! That's the most annoying rule ever.
I try not to bring anything too expensive, just cause I'm scared to lose it.
Spending that much on a hair product is ridiculous.
he didn't pack it in his checked bag? that would have cleared...
