by Anne In my previous job, I had to do some traveling for work. I loved that part of my job, but my boss didn't quite enjoy it so much. She had to travel, maybe, 50% of the time. I could understand that being a pain. I think my enjoyment was also due to the fact that I had the opportunity to go to places I already wanted to visit such as Toronto, Canada.
But I can see how others wouldn't find traveling for work so pleasant. For example, my friend also had to travel for work, but she went to more secluded towns like Galena, Kansas. I've never heard of that town, but here's a photo of Downtown Galena. And she had to be here about twice a month for a long while too.
Do you travel for work and do you enjoy it? Would you like to have a job that allows you to travel?

I have never had a job where I have to travelled to a different place or country or work, I would not really want one, unless I had a few hours free time in the city for shopping.
yay TORONTO! :) never thought i'd hear someone wants to come here lol
I'd love to have a job where I can travel. I love travelling period.
I travel to Atlanta every few months to visit my corporate office there. Our company is located near the airport, not in downtown. I get pretty lonely as I am often there for a week. I miss my husband, my dog and mostly my own bed! Since Atlanta is such a sprawl and not always the safest area, I end up just eating in the hotel at night. As a woman traveling alone, there are plenty of traveling businessmen who hit on you whether they are single or married. I just end up hiding out in my room after work hours. The only plus I like is racking up those airline and hotel miles for a vacation somewhere later.
i had several business trips. most of them were pleasant. the only "negative" one was time at Stockton, CA. it's because some of my co-workers were robbed in an afternoon from getting a cup of coffee and a few other co-workers have their cars broken into.
but i still think trips to random small towns are interesting. probably we would never ever use our own pocket money to visit certain part of the america. it's interesting to see how things are like in other parts of the country.
It would depend. I dont think I could travel to small towns twice a month like your friend did.
I've been traveling to work about once a month now, having been gone about 6 days at a time. Though the places that I've been to could have been very interesting, we usually bust our butts working the whole time and don't get to check much of the surrounding area out. The only exceptions were when we got to go snowboarding in Colorado over the weekend (the one trip where I didn't work through the weekend and I got to bring wifey with me) and when I got to dig my feet in a Florida beach last month. The worst part is just that it gets lonely and I miss my wife and dog terribly.
Before Curtis came onboard, I have to travel quite frequently for work. I have been to Malaysia, Philippines, Batam, Japan, Thailand, Germany and Portugal. I wouldn't say I enjoy traveling for Biz, but at least it gives me a chance to step foot into that particular country.
