Belgium: Land of Food, Beer and a Great Time!
by Molly
If you like to eat, drink and be merry, you should definitely think about taking a trip to Belgium! Not only do they have some of the best beer in the world, they also boast amazing waffles, chocolate and mussles. So, in between all of your beer drinking, you should be able to fit in a chocolate covered waffle, or a steaming pot of mussles.
Belgium is home to a variety of amazing buldings, sights and tourist hotspots. The main plaza, Grand Place, is full of gothic architecture and sprawling cafes. Definitely a good spot to take a picutre and take in the local scenery. After seeing Grand Place, you can go on an adventure to find the infamous Mannekin Pis....which is actually exactly what you think when you read the name. It is a statue of a little boy peeing. And, to make it even better, after finding the statue, you can visit the Brussels museum to see over 700 outfits designed especially for this famous little statue. There is even an Elvis jumpsuit to top it all off!
Rue des Bouchers

For a bite to eat, Rue des Bouchers is definitely an experience to say the least. It is a row of restaurants right off of Grand Place, where vendors stand outside to show you their menu and offer you a variety of daily specials. They each have their food items displayed in the front of their store, where you can see fresh seafood and produce. Once inside any of the restaurants, you can sample any number of the amazing beers that they have on tap. Leffe was one of my favorites, and I swear it tastes different out of the Leffe glass! You will have to see for yourself though.
Brugge
Just about an hour outside of Brussels is the little town of Brugge. It is truely a fairytale town. The little chocolate and tea shops line the streets, with Christmas lights strung up along each street, take you to another world. You can take a boat ride down the little river lining the town or just walk along the plaza to take a look in all the shop windows. I have to say, I probably had the best waffle of my life in one of the little chocolate shops. Chocolate covered Belgium waffles....what more could you ask for!
Have you ever been to Belgium? What was your experience? Would you consider a trip there?

I have never been to Belgium before, my Dad when he worked at one of his past jobs (this was when me and my sister were younger) use to go on business every week for a couple of days at a time.
I would not mind trying Belgium even if it is only for a long weekend.
It's a beautiful country. I'll go there sometime in future.
