  • Walk Among the Animals in the Galapagos Islands

Too Shy for Nude Beaches by Anne

I was always interested in the Galapagos Islands, a province of Ecuador, and always hoped to visit one day. My earliest memory of learning about these islands was during elementary school while learning about Charles Darwin and his studies here.

I finally made the trip last year and it was even better than I imagined. This is truly a sanctuary for animals. It is a place where people live among the animals and not the other way around. The Galapagos Islands belong to them and the human inhabitants respect their surroundings and the home of these animals.

If you love animals and love learning about them, this is a good away to get up close and personal. We hired a guide to take us around and he educated us on almost everything we asked about and didn't ask about. Not only are there many animals to learn about, but the island itself is truly amazing. We went horseback riding around volcano rims and trekked inside them.

Perhaps, the island is most famous for their giant tortoises, but my favorite animals were the Blue-footed Boobies. Check out their bright blue feet!

We couldn't get a good photo of the blue-footed booby, but I found a great one online to show you.

Do you love animals and enjoy learning about them? Would you like to visit the Galapagos Islands?

The Galapagos Islands are the most incredible living museum of evolutionary changes, with a huge variety of exotic species (birds, land animals, plants)
    not seen anywhere else.

The majority of Galapagos animals re unique in the world and can only be seen in this group of beautiful Islands.

It is a well recommended trip.

Galapagos was amazing.  It's hard to see everything because there's so many Islands to explore.  I always wanted to see the penguins there but they were gone except for two penguins.  The exciting part was that we got to swim with the two penguins and a bunch of seals.  I was pretty scared because those seals get right up next to you.  Galapagos is a place where the animals are not scared of people.  I like boobies..... blue footed ones.

It's very exciting getting so up close and personal with these animals. Swimming with seals and penguins in the wild is something you really can't experience anywhere else...

I've been to so many amazing places, but if I absolutely had to pick, I'd settle on a couple places to shorten the list. Madrid, Spain because that's where I did my study abroad program when I was 18 and it was there that the travel bug bit me so hard it left a scar. I haven't been the same since. And Vietnam. That's where my family is from. Although, I'm Vietnamese American, I never actually visited Vietnam until I was 26. It was an awesome experience to learn about my family's history and I was quite pleased to show off my vietnamese language skills to the locals. It's quite a big deal for an american-born.
