  • St. Patrick's Day - Bigger in the U.S. than Ireland?!

    Guest post submitted by justinimal

I'm going away for St. Patricks Day.  I've got my hotel website bookmarked, my green shirts already picked out, and my traveling buddies scheduled.  But you'll never believe where I'm going.

While looking for my holiday hot spot, I used multiple websites, like AOL City Guide, RealTravel.com, and Yahoo! Travel.  What I kept finding was unbelievable, but absolutely true and realistic.

Was I the only person to not know that Savannah, Georgia is home to the second largest St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival in the United States (only second to Boston, I think)?  Did anyone else know that this St. Patty's Day Parade is also the largest celebration in Savannah, drawing crowds of over 400,000 people? So I've decided to go there for St. Patrick's Day.  After seeing pictures and videos about this celebration, I can't deny myself the green water fountains and $10 bracelet access to drink on these Southern streets.  I just can't believe that I didn't learn about this earlier!

What are holiday hot spots that you've traveled to?  Have you visited London on one of the 25 Days of Christmas?  Have you ever jumped the border to Mexico for a little Cinco de Mayo fiesta?
